Post by: yurah on June 05, 2011, 05:50:21 pm
What is an effective achcer build for killing medium-heavy armored people? I've been trying lots of builds but I can't find a good medium

I'll say 21/18
7 PD, longbow
6 WM
5 athletics
And whatever with the remaining points. (IF or PS)

Not much difference in damage between 8 PD and 7, imo.

It really comes down to your playstyle.
Most of the archers out there rather have a high powerdraw thus, inflicting more damage when they hit.

I like the high weaponmaster path. At 172 wpf (8 weapon master) , i shoot quite fast and my arrows dont
stray as much. Instead of aiming for the body, i try aiming for the head. Also, for archer duels, i can still be
competetive while using a warbow.

I've been leveling as an archer this gen, and I'm at 15str 21 agi right now (strongbow).  I am able to get a decent amount of kills and have pretty good accuracy, and I'm having a hard time deciding where I want my last 3 points to go.

Does pd 5 -> 6 make that much of a difference?  Similarly does the ~170 archery wpf seem much better than ~160?

I will say that in the past I've done very strength heavy builds, like 24 str and 15 agi.  I've been loving the added draw speed and accuracy that comes with higher wm than just 5, so honestly I would say 18 agi as a minimum.

Any of you know the correlation between PD and WPF? I heard 17 wpf per PD. I just went from 6 to 7 with 145wpf and am now way slower and less accurate.

The high agi/wpf seemed much better.

I've been playing 18 str longbow build. 0 IF 0 PS 7 ath 7 wpm at lvl 30. I find you really don't need more than 6 power draw with a longbow. Even with 6 i can easily 2/3 shot heavy armored chars, and for every1 else i always 2 shot them. Of course im talking about torso shots.

So when I changed generation, I always go for 15 (or 18 if I want to use war/longbow) str first then add agi and weaponmaster until i'm satisfied with my hit and headshot rate then the goes in strength.

I'm 21-21 7PD 6ATH 7WM (lvl 31) and it's good with any bow. I'm using strongbow because I like having more arrows (i dont use melee) and I can 3 shot full plated guys with headshots at medium range.
