I've been thinking of being an archer in my third generation. I've a Long bow heirloomed once, and I can heirloom my bodkin arrows when I retire (is it worth it?) since I'm not an archer now.
This is the build I was thinking of trying:
Level 30 (4 420 577 xp)
Strength: 24
Agility: 18
Hit points: 59
Skills to attributes: 14
Ironflesh: 0
Power Strike: 0
Shield: 0
Athletics: 3
Riding: 0
Horse Archery: 0
Power Draw: 8
Power Throw: 0
Weapon Master: 6
One Handed: 1
Two Handed: 1
Polearm: 1
Archery: 157
Crossbow: 1
Throwing: 1
I have no interest on Power Strike, so I've used that to get a bit more of stats and an extra Power Draw. Do you think this is fine, should I get more agi (21/21), or even go 27/15?. I remind you I'll be using a long bow.

IMO 3 ath. is way too low of a pure archer - you will certainly have to run away a lot. The movement speed is essential for archer - to make a good shot, a proper position is needed. Of course with heirloomed long bow, bodkins and 8 PD you will be mostly two-shooting people (in mid-tier armor, anything lower will go down in one shot) and 3-4 shooting plate, so it's up to you.
And 157 wpf is a bit low for longbow. I'd go for 7 WM.

Do the same build at lvl 31 and you'll get 6 athletic instead of 3.

Build is fine. But longbow already has good pierce damage and shoot speed so the extra 1 powerdraw won't make that much of a difference, compared to not converting those point so you can have more athletics/powerstrike/ironflesh. And they are right if you have no powerstrike or wpf in melee weapons you really need to get more athletics or its going to get really frustrating really fast.
Heirloom your longbow. The longbow not only gets +1 damage (like 2nd and 3rd heirloom of arrows or 1st if you use them instead of the next tier arrows because its a larger bag) but also adds to shoot speed, draw speed, and accuracy. Always get your bow triple heirloomed before worrying about the arrows.

This mainly. Be aware that with just three athletics, it would be wise to pay careful attention to your surroundings and think further ahead then usual. Hell, I did a build with zero athletics and that worked mainly due to me always acting as a close-support archer thus I had infantry backing me up.

I had the same build, but with 3 PS instead of the Atletichs, its a really good defender siege build, but in battle not so good!

Thanks. I'll try 21/15 first, with only 3 athletics (as I level up). If I see it's not enough, I'll go 21/18 probably.

go 21/18 my friend :) the extra Athletics will pay off! trust me

I have this exact build with my main and MW strong bow + MW bodkins. It's quite deadly.
