At the moment I am playing using the Kyhber knife with no shield and little armor. The Kyhber knife's inability to block means I can only chamber block. has anyone ever tried anything similar?

The thing about knife fights is the loser dies in the street, the winner dies in the hospital.

WInning quote of the day

Long espada eslanova and no shield, works wonder.
-
I got a character that's all agi and I run around with a knife, it's pretty funny but can be frustrating since chamber blocking is hard as balls, at least for me.
-
Yeah man, you should see gash's assassin at work, Gashtapo_Assassin. He rocks that long dagger.

 +1 to you!
To the OP: I've done similar things involving rocks on my lawl-thrower. Nothing spells out humiliation than getting chambered and beat down by a guy in peasant gear using rocks. 98% of the time I just die looking like an ass though . A knife is easier to chamber with. Rocks in melee mode with 0 wpf is by no means the ideal chamber blocking weapon.
-
Sounds Like Wallace, although he blocks sometimes. 80% are chambers though.
I used to rock melee with only chambers, before i went invert attack direction, now it is hard to chamber sides since I block the opposite direction I attack... But I control my regular attacks better with invert, so ah well.
it is viable to only chamber, but every held attack is going to rape you.
-
It's pretty cool to duel cav lancers with a no-block weapon. It makes you learn the good timing of held attacks chamberblocking.

I think you mean linden mate. He was kerin graham (or however you spell that). Crossbow and a Long Dagger...deadly in his hands ;)
-
I think Nemeth was the first one to do a pure dagger build. He put all his points in agi, athl and wpm and ran around in light armour. He ran so fast and got such a huge speed bonus he killed my horse more than once. And those archers who tried to fight him in melee. Ahhh that was always fun to watch :D

Linden too. Both were insanely good at chambering, I haven't seen linden in a long time though. Both play a lot less now.

Ahh nemeth for fun.
Cavalries favourite character :L

Was that before january patch or after?

If he's wounded that bad, he's no winner. Well, a Phyrric winner at best.
-
His point was that knife fights very often end with both participents heavily wounded.

All my characters have long dagger to troll with. It usually involves wearing nothing but lamellar gloves and a long dagger and relying on 6/7/8 athletics to get me in and out of Danish sword striking range  although its a lot harder now that athletics doesn't work so well as it used to
-
I try to chamber as often as I can, I also tried a dagger char way back....Daggers don't really chamber fight well because even if you chamber, you still have to reach your oppponent.
-
As I have noticed....
I have graduated to a spiked mace and shield now. I was using the knife for chamber blocking practice mostly. I only use the shield after one of my chamber blocks gets blocked and I am doing alright so far. I really recomend that people try building an alternate like this, it is a very different feel then all that spamming/feinting that the rest of the game is composed of. I am really liking my pathetically weak AGI character, despite the fact that I recieve WAY more deaths than kills and many strikes deflect.
-
I always carry a long dagger for trolling people or cuttin up peasants and archers and other weak trash i might encounter
But yeah its a gamble against good players
-
When I am wearing Full plate I try to kill peasants with my fists.

I always do, regardless of my armor level or the amount of enemies around me, lol

I was definitaly not the first one to do the long dagger agi build. I've heard of people doing it before the big patch and some guys gave me a good tips in the beggining. I've started running arond with dagger in February maybe, not sure. So yeah, definitaly not the first one.
-
I ran with a dagger for a while, and before me Kerin Grahm was. And they were way more effective at it, too. I wish I was that good at chambering initial and HELD attacks. The reaction time x.x
Only person I've seen go 3/5-1 with a dagger consistently...
-
HHmmm nope i dont remember anyone doing this............nothing about assassinations and a whole generation dedicated to only being an assassin. Nope never woulda crossed my mind, no i dont think it was me who did this way prior to the big patch..........possibly dressed like a assassin in a courtly outfit, a desert turban, a long dagger, and hiding in corners. Who would do such a thing as that, wonder if they would also yell ASSASSINATED after killing someone too? Nah never crossed my mind to have someone do this, sounds silly..............
Btw agi builds are for children. u will never kill anything

Most successful long dagger build I've seen was 27-15, 9 PS 3 WM 5 ath.
"ooh look at the dagger user -- MYYY FAAACEEEEEEEE"
But it is still pretty bad since daggers do so little damage. So stupid.
-
I have chambered quite a few attacks in the past with just fists as a peasant, but I've not yet made a dagger-chamber character, I guess it could be fun, just have to select your fights more carefully than ever. Just like everything, chambering alot just takes alot of practice, though some people are naturally going to be better at it than others. I don't even really try it often nowadays.
-
i usually try to chamber in duels, not so often on regular servers since it's too risky and the people there can usually easily be killed without chambers.
I do it more often on my long dagger assassin :D
