Title: Equipment bans.
Post by: Vebb on March 31, 2019, 12:40:05 am
I feel like banning archers when pop is below 20 is fine. But cav shouldnt be banned unless below 10 pop and even then most players dont really have a problem with cav.

Might as well ban shields one handers and polearms while you're at it.

eu1 is melee only now.
I am not big fan of geting bolt in my face every secound round but I think there might be better solution.
Meake it 30/35% on low pop and then teake it off over 35 players.

balance over bans

What about disabling banner balance and have a strictly 50/50 split range and cav till 20 pop. I think the issue is when all the cav or all the ranged gets put on one team due to banner balance. Also teamwork is op.

Let's get some perspective from EU players, because I think it's working for them

Not a fan of limiting what classes can play. There's about 20 shields that don't require shield points and use zero slots. Every melee class can carry a pike or 2 slot spear. Native doesn't have to limit classes because players adapt. Also I think it messes up the paper > rock > scissors because cav counters archers and vice versa.

Actually, you're correct there, I've seen faces and names i totally forgot in the past few days. Strat fights are a thing again, too.

those shields are useless,u getheadshotted 24/7.

its fine as it is right now,i dont care if there is cav with low pop but ranged kills the fun if there arent enough players.

I think this is a dangerous move. There are dedicated archers that play this game. As often as I get headshot or filled with 8 arrows, I still feel as if we should show a lil respect to all the classes and not kick the dedicated archers and cav right in the balls just because a few melee don't wanna fight them. We already have flags that guarantee a closer distance or loss. If a melee player hasnt left by the time there is 20 or less people, they're not gonna leave just because theres a couple archers. The archers however will be guaranteed to leave when there is 20 or less players which is fairly early most nights.

Pros: Maybe getting more people to stay longer during 10-20 pop.
Cons: Guaranteeing archers and cav will leave when pop drops below 20.

This may be safer and I would feel more comfortable about it if the number decided upon was 10 pop rather than 20.

Threshold of population where ranged and horses are banned are decided by server owners separately by setting max server population (10% of it). Since it's both 160 on NA and EU, threshold is 16. If server owners want to make it lower - they can just lower the max player slots.

so when the message comes up ranged and cavr are now back to allowed why do cav get their horses back w/o having to relog but on my dagger thrower at cav char I have to relog losing my multiplier to get my daggers back?

for some reason the horses are still an option to spawn with from your inventory even if you can't whereas any type of ranged is removed from your inventory

Warband engine  You don't have to relog, just wait for the end of the map.

Still dont get why cav doesnt have to wait til the end of the map then as well. And sometimes by the end of the map its back off again. The only reason I specced back into throwing daggers is cav as thats the only thing they are good for.

So instead of lowering server slots to change the threshold,  why not just play around with the percentage? Or is 10% a constant that can't be changed.

Well, the percentage is 10% and lowering the servers total amount of players wont really do much considering it never reaches full server, so all in all easy to reduce the limit if the players in the server wants it

I doubt cRPG is going to get 100 ppl on a server again let alone 160 so I dont see why people would care if it was lowered.

Because it's easy to calculate first of all.

Anything is easy to calculate when you use a calculator though. So, there's that bit.

глупо что-то запрещать, когда на серверах с трудом 3 калеки собирается
