Hey fellas, I was thinking of getting back in the game as apparently there's still life on EU1.
However, playing on a lagtop I'd like to avoid the steam overlay. Is it possible to install Warband without steam and play cRPG?
Cheers, can't wait to stomp your asses

i have warband on steam but never play crpg with steam

are you using the cRPG launcher?

yea I've never had the steam overlay on cRPG
you could try this for warband
In your Steam client, click "Steam," followed by "Settings." Navigate to the In-Game tab and uncheck "Enable Steam Community In-Game." Click "OK" to save your changes.

That's how it used to be for me as well. But I'm wondering there's a way to avoid even installing steam and just using a warband client. I have the cd-key ready.
are you using the cRPG launcher?
The cRPG launcher wants to find my warband install before I can proceed

If you bought Warband from gog you dont need steam to run it.

That's sadly not the case. I guess there's no way around it then. God damn you, Gaben.

Well I purchased a warband key from gog a long time ago, and no where on that page does it say steam is required to run it so how is it sadly not the case? Plus I am playing cRPG right now without steam running.

i bought warband through steam and play with steam closed all the time

Yes I did that too, but the problem is you need the actual client before that works. I think cRPG still wants to use the client that's installed via steam, but then finds a way to open the game without it.
So what I really need is just a folder with the game installed, so that the cRPG launcher can use that path, as it installs itself. Does that make any sense?
