Title: What got you into crpg?

Who or what got you into playing crpg for the 1st time and you ended up staying? I dont know why but im just really curious about how everyone else got started.

I guess I'll go first. I met cosby and undertax on PW and we hung out a few times on teamspeak and ate shit. Eventually he asked me if i wanted to try out crpg cause he was in some clan or something like that. I was like fuck it, I had tried it once before for like 10 seconds and i unistalled it. Thats when I first joined HoC back in 2013 for like a few months, they're all really cool guys too. (except zlotz, that guys sucks)

Solution oriented pdates that took community input and knowledge in account, developers with high levels of game knowledge and community managers that were selfless and community friendly got me going.

tried it out after i got bored of native scrims, ended up getting slapped around because of my peasant gear so oodle gave me 50k, wasted it on stupid shit and quit for a bit. Few months later gave it another try and babyowl gave me another 50k and he told me not to buy stupid shit and i actually got into the game. Joined blackcompany and Holokron, zaleck, and mr.killer taught me strat and have been playing since

found a vid on the mod on youtube,  installed it.  was my first experience with online m&b.  shortly after I bought my first mail and norse helmet and stood in a shield wall with 20 random guys,  arrows crashing into the wall and flying passt,  some guy on a stepp horse with two shields,  later turned out to be merc_phaz /phasey??  running up and down the line,  giving commands.  lines crashing into each other.

later I would have my first horse,  with the superior oversight taking in all of the battlefield, I would grasp little details:  some superhero in a crusader helmet (olwen) taking out half a team,  dave and gnjus doing their fahggy xbow shit,  full plate archers headshotting from a hill across a hole map.  ladderpulting.  The_Finn,  still sporting a cataphract back then,  flying through the chaos and beautifuly letting his lance dance.

How could I not have stayed.  How could I not have fallen in love.

Played about 400 hours of native and then looked for a mod with online campaign. Played pretty casually until Reinhardt recruited Axeman and I.

I don't remember for sure how i started but what kept me in the game was those russian and german pro players.I would die and find the pro player among the 100 players than watch how he swings dodges feints evades,the way they played always excited me i forgot most of their names now though.

What a chain of events that turned out to be!

I started back in 2010 when the mod first came out, downloaded it to try a persistent mod for online warband also. Holy shit did I find it! Prior to that I played the original M&B for like 200+ hours, then Warband beta whose online battles were the big hit for me. Didn't really know anyone here, but I quickly found an amazing community, despite constant trolling  :lol: . Grinded for DAYS before I finally got decent armor and weapons, my first shield, and my first horse... the ole' OP Rouncey.

Since then I never have left horseback, even to take a shit, I have a bag for that.

But yeah joined a few clans over the years, then made Acre, handed over Acre to James for a few years, came back. Now we here.

I always thought NW would be amazing with a strategus mode. Shame the concept was never re-purposed.

My friend Taxtros got me into it and I joined Malta with him, needless to say that didn't last long, jumped around a few different clans and eventually settled in HoC.

This mod was my first experience with M&B... I never even tried native until like a year and a half after I started playing.

EDIT: Fun fact, c-rpg was the first game I downloaded after building my computer... I regret nothing

Played the very early versions after seeing it on the server lists from what I remember, I got hooked as it had progression and I love progression in games. I remember joining Order of the Rose for a while until The Fallen appeared, with which I joined under Beauchamp. I stuck around because the mod was consistently improved, updated, new ideas tested, new features added and well the drama was just a part of the fun too lol. Back then anyone that was even mediocre at manual blocking was god like as most players just sucked lol, I can't even remember how many years ago it was that I first played cRPG but I know it was a fair time before I had my first kid and he is due to turn 6 on Friday. One of the best mods ever for any game while it lasted.

Visited my rl buddy Hideyoshi once (we used to live in the same neighborhood as kiddos) to play some Risk (board game) and drink a bit, he showed me "that awesome turkish medieval game" and when I saw it I was like "yeeeh, looks like shit, not gonna look into that"

But lateron, his buddies which I knew a bit aswell (Taimic and Schmackofatz) got the game aswell to play online and they convinced me to get it aswell. We 4 first ran around on PW and Mount and Musket to do some random shit. About 1-2 weeks later Hideyoshi started to talk about some crpg mod (which I thought at first was retarded since I imagined it with orcs and stuff...cause, you know, rpg). Since he started playing crpg more than PW, we decided to switch to it aswell. Hideyoshi had already joined a clan called "Shogunate" but he warned us that there's going to be a skill test for it, according to our performance we'd also get ranked differently (yeah that was a thing back then, Shogunate was even divided into 4 subclans, which was kinda cool. There was some kind of discipline and competition within the clan). So for the next 1-2 weeks we regulary met online and trained on the old Nditions Duel Server, hideyoshi as the "grand master" and us as the three recruits. It felt kind of like a bootcamp and it was great since we learned a LOT of stuff within a short time.
When we were tested on the duel server we were accepted, got our ranks and were teamkilled by Captain_Georges, as it was tradition. And everything else what followed is history.

At first I stood because I had quite some fun with the people of my clan, lateron when Byz died down, I already knew the regular players and had fun talking and playing with them. Also, playing crossbow kinda felt like fishing for me, it's both exciting yet relaxing. Funny how my ranged character at first started off as a parody to ranged cancer and then turned me into one of them. I used to play 2h/lance cav hybrid for 1 1/2 years before I even touched ranged.

after 4 or 5 years on multiplayer, I tried the singleplayer game for the first time :lol:

Somebody in native said that there was a mod in wich you could make your own character and use any kind of gear you wanted, also the the mod was full with northamerican baddies ez kills. At first I didnt pay much attention to it bc i needed an original copy of the game wich I didnt have, but then many of my clanmates started trying it out so i bought the game and tried it myself, ever since 2012 i've been playing on and off with no regrets whatsoever.

Some fella at school gave me a cracked copy of Warband in 2010. Played a couple months of SP, loved it, but couldn't play MP with the key I had.

Early 2011 my gf comes home with a gift for me, which I still have in MINT condition. Someday I'll sign it, and it'll be worth thousands.

Started playing battle on the Aus native servers; was a pure melee my old friendcher slayer from day one. Saw cRPG in the server list with lots of players so dl'd after playing native for a few months. I remember playing for about ten minutes and complaining about balance, while Frank the Tank tried to tell me how good it was and explained how everything works. Went back to native and did about 600 hours on the duel server, then I tried cRPG again and got hooked when I could actually defend myself as a peasant.

why i still play off and on on the american servers is a more autistic story for another time

When I first bought warband and played online I was getting my ass handed to me in native by some naked dude with a staff who said he got his skills from c-crpg.  Stayed for the online campaign mode.

I remember Jesus, could manual block well while most other players sucked at it so he became a team carrying god lol. Pretty sure I remember him smacking bitches up with a staff too.

I srsly had no idea what manual blocking was.  I didnt know it existed.  when my shield broke I would wiggle my mouse and try to mimik moves I saw of other people,  not realizing directional right mouse holding was a thing. qq.

After playing Warband singleplayer for about a year, I decided I wanted to play any Star Wars mod that exists. Bearforce was multiplayer and I joined my first online PC clan. That clan died and I joined the last remaining Bearforce clan at the time, the 3rd Republic Legion. Who decided to jump to crpg since they were now the last Bearforce clan. so I came with them.. They eventually got tired of the mod and quit, I decided to stay.

My high school pal Helgoring got me into it with the promise of a fun roleplaying mod. I stayed for the grinding and drama.

edit: Come to think of it, I had a fell out with Helgo irl but am still playing this mod. C-rpg is like that home wrecker bitch.

My brother showed me Warband in 2010? I think, and as soon as I saw the massive multiplayer battles where every single fighter was an individual player I was hooked.

In 2011 he showed me crpg, we would play together sometimes. He stopped later that year, I quit for a while when he did but then I came back because no other game scratched that itch for me. Not even native warband was as good anymore after playing crpg. The character progression and being able to spot a player across the battlefield and know it was them because of their trademark set of gear... Working your way up from being a peasant cowering behind a wall near a combat god, becoming a shitty bamboo spearman to try and poke and help out the guy in plate, finally buying my first horse (rouncey) and a light lance after what felt like weeks and weeks. Managing to get kills sometimes even though I didn't know how to couch the lance or what couching even was.

After that I played an archer and then an xbower, I had played for an embarassing extremely long time before I actually got good at melee combat with 4D weapons. 5 or 6 generations as a ranged player, and then I loomed a knife instead of a real 1h weapon because I wanted a sidearm to go with my +3 xbow and +3 bolts. It was a long time before I did anything other than wiggle and spin in melee combat.  :oops:

I started playing c-rpg after I met Knightmare on Rust. I only wished I found this mod when It first started. However, the people who showed me DA WEa were James and Axeman. Yes the beloved clan ACRE. The community is toxic and has a special place in the pit of my dark soul. Ps, Marcus is one hot piece of ass.

Played native as a x bower shielder in guard of istiniar and wanted to learn how to manual block with 2h. Stayed because of guys like kingrimm, granny and Hetman (got in strat battles for UIF when I was new since while crap I followed orders), stayed longer because of good early strat rounds when 80 a side all on TS and lots couldnt get in.

Fought UIF and anti UIF, great example of how teamwork would beat better individuals 9 out of 10. "not to the left, not to the right, up the fucking middle"

so back in 2014 i got banned from UNAC events (native NA tournament) and i sort of quit warband. then henderson (hendywendy?) hit me up on steam (we were in a clan together) and told me i had to try out c-rpg because he was in this cool clan who helped him out a ton. that clan of course turned out to be acre, and all of our native clan TR came over to join the cult that is c-rpg. we left acre after a few weeks because we felt our personalities didn't really mesh well with everyone else's and joined Gods of War with bolo pinky and tammo. everyone else in tr eventually quit c-rpg but me and killjoy have stayed forever faithful, which has prompted our friends to come back for quick stints here and there. (looking at u rake and benji, hope u stay this time.)

so yeah that's my life story and now u know why my parents don't love me thanks for listening to my ted talk

Played a while native until i found crpg in some modlist.
tried it and were already addicted in 2010.
i got killed and killed and killed,doesnt matter on which server i was playing...

once i joined eu3 and wookimonsta told me some stuff like how to block and so on.
after a while i felt lonley and i searched a clan and joined wolves. Kinngrimm told me most about strat and stuff.

Was browsing the Taleworlds forum mods and saw this interesting mod called "cRPG".


First time I logged in I got to fight Oberyn with a pitchfork on that sea raid map from singleplayer. This was like 10? years ago. Good times.

I stumbled upon the mod one day around 2012 or 2013, since I was pretty young, otherwise I would have started earlier. My name at the start was MeKillU, a stupid child name, then it changed to UKillMe, then to DaBirds, a little less childish. Before that I had played singleplayer a decent amount, started to play multiplayer with friends. Then, I got too good for my friends, found crpg somewhere, don't remember exactly where, and got my ass handed to me a lot. I played it on and off for about a year, joined the Teutonic Order, (the dtv clan lol, with Teutonic_Paladin and Talanarsis, not the renowned one) and then took about a 2 year break. After that, I came back about 2014ish started to learn strat myself, I hung out with Acre for a while, namely James, Marcus, Sellka, Veb, some other people I don't remember, I usually signed for them, I still wasn't really very good, and I kinda had trolly low lvl builds. I didn't join their clan, then soon after joined House Stark, which was created by Talanarsis, took it over about 6 months later. Then kept the House Stark name since 2014, I think? Magically got way better at the game, and learned all the ins and outs. I played a lot of 1h, and pole back then, and I wore a pepperpot helm, best helm lol.

My brother introduced me to M&B back in like 2010 or 11 somewhere around there. I was hooked on the single player because I had never seen a campaign that was similar to this. The persistence and length of a campaign just blew my mind, not to mention the incredible adrenaline rush that I felt during all of the single player battles. After I had conquered the entire map 3 or 4 times I decided to check out the online play and immediately skipped native and any other mods and went straight into cRPG. My first and always will remain my favorite clan was the glorious and infamous Templar. I had never played with anyone from another country before and to become such an integral part of strategus with so many awesome guys that a lot of times didn't even speak the same language as me was pretty mind-blowing. Once the servers split into EU and NA, Templar eventually started fading away and I decided to join up with the NA inheritors of the Templar legacy: Hospitaller. Spent many years with those excellent guys and met so many great people, especially the occitan clan that co-oped with Hospi. Eventually I took a break from all the intense strategus for a year or two. Came back and joined up with KUTT after seeing that Hospi wasn't playing anymore. Some really great players in that clan (shoutout to gallo and tanken). Eventually I realized that I didn't need no banner stack to own a round and have just kinda been free for all with the clan membership since then.

Just a shoutout to some of the best fuckin melee in the game: DaBirds, Sauce, Phoenician, Gallo. Mad respect for you guys and for anyone else that has been here as long as ya'll. I consider us as legends in combat.
