So I just hit 31 and I'm wondering should I retire now or is there a benefit to retiring later once I hit 35/36/37?

The higher level you retire the more heirloom points you get and you get certain titles (32 is veteran, 33 is master, 34 is grand master, etc). However getting to level 35 requires like 1.4billion xp so it probably isnt likely to happen unless you go insane no life
I think for LPs its 3 at level 32, 5 at 33 and 10 at 34?

Great info thanks, I think I'll stick it out for a bit then as I'd like to get as many looms as possible. I'm sorry if this has been posted before but I wanted to ask cause it seems like things changed multiple times over the years without the info being updated or readily available for newcomers like myself.

At the current xp system you should retire @ lvl 31 15 times before going to lvl 32 and beyond.
Each time you retire you gain a generation bonus for xp gain, first time gives 30 extra xp a tick at times 1, second time 60 extra up til gen 16 which gives 450 extra xp added on top of the base xp you get at x1.
You can go straight to lvl 32 and beyond w/o gen 16 bonus but it will take longer.
Also if you go to lvl 32 and beyond and then retire you still will get the looms Tristan mentioned but will still only get 1 gen even if retiring at lvl 34.
Your best bet is to retire at lvl 31 15 times then go to higher levels. This will get you 15 loompoints to work with and more xp for the trip to lvl 32.

This. XP Bonus is key for going to higher levels. You can also retire in strategus battles to help skip some of the low lvl grind. Tristan can explain that to you I'm sure.

I suppose that makes sense in the long run, since by the time I make it to gen 16 I'll have the exp bonus' and be able to hit the higher levels for the rest of the looms I want to get alot easier. If I'm understanding correctly?

Basically you join the battle, hit retire on the site, and then dont leave the battle. You keep your stats until you leave the server so you remain at level 31 while getting xp for your next gen. Probably could get to level 23-27 depending on the size of the battle pretty easily.

this is exactly what i thought when i read the thread. "whens the best time to retire?" "right before a big strat battle"
-
Yeah pretty much only retire during a big strat battle. Objectively speaking that is the only proper time.

Nerds, Levelling up from 1-25 is the most fun time!!! I remember last gen killing some 2h hero at like level 6 with a stone (Guess he was already weakened) a good feeling!
