You're going about this the wrong way. This is not a troll post. It is common sense.
I am currently playing NA1. 70 percent of my team is range in some capacity. Does this mean you should nerf range?? Of course not!
Give the people what they want. Buff range for 2 reasons.
1) You are trying to actively make crpg more popular. Well what do a TON of modern games have in common? I'll give you a hint. CsGO, PUBG, Overwatch. All these games have range as the foreground and melee as the back up. People don't want to fight each other. They want to pew pew pew.
2) Range is more realistic. If melee was so good then why arent we using melee today? You don't see the american army running around with nodachis do you?
Give it up crpg may have started as a melee heavy mod but its time to get with the times of time. Also buff horse crossbow ty.

Why wouldnt one play ranged as long as people go into battle without shields and no sense of finding cover? Hybrid thrower or go cav and kill the archers. Though cav works questionably, depending a lot on the maps.

Or you could spec enough riding into your archer to ride a plated charger and dismount it to shoot while using the charger for cover

This is not entirely true. What ppl want is to show that their... weapon... is bigger, no matter what the game tells them to do to achieve that.
