Title: Idea - How to fix a problem
Post by: Tristan_of_Erzoth on December 22, 2017, 08:55:18 am
Why not just wipe everyones gold? And while you do that, decrease gold to pre POD levels as well. Then I get to keep muh looms, it fixes hyper inflation, upkeep is a thing again, etc etc

Discuss

Better to have some gold sinks for things that have no real impact ingame but have some value for veterans (cosmetics?). Could also let people smelt their looms into worthless things in a similar way. Maybe have a running total on the site for who has destroyed the most stuff like they have for retired characters

I think even if you delete gold the economy will be still pretty much non-existent because everyone has looms and we have armouries. Maybe remove the armoury system? Or is that too far. I don't think its a good idea to forcefully remove people's stuff. It should be optional but with a unique reward

Why would we do any of that lol. I am not about to pretend like CRPG is going to be a huge lasting thing again, as much as I'd like that, it died for a reason and nothing has changed, it's still the same old CRPG. Who the fuck really wants to grind all that shit again.

Im wondering if those few big strat battles helped revive it, or if its just nostalgia and a snowball like system:  the more players on the server the more come to feel the feels

It was just an example
But honestly, what do you prefer: 2500000+ gold that pretty much has no value at all right now, or 10+ LPs that you can use to get better armor?

I have 24 million gold and I am against this measure, it would definitely kill the mod. The new players start with improved equipment, there should be no complaint.

The loom price will decrease as more people play and retire their characters, spread the Crpg among your communities of native, pw, NW. Loom price  has dropped 700k in a week.

Just make more regular loompoint sales, if the players keep coming back, the marketplace will be back on its feet.

The marketplace was the single worst addition to cRPG. Devs started nerfing items into oblivion, but stopped offering free respecs. It became a lazy, dirty excuse. I've resented it since the first time that shit was pulled.

I don't play strat right nowbut this is true. What the fuck is the point at the moment? Nobody new coming into the game actually has anything to work towards on strat.

Listen dumbasses, It's a fuckin video game. Meant to have fun. If you are looking for life purpose in cRPG, you really oughta consider becoming an alcoholic. We already had the wipe conversation many times. It's a dumb idea that will only piss off the veterans who actually play and realistically do next to nothing to bring in new players. Lets not get into this shit again please.

Looms should most likely never be touched. However, lowering the gold by a percentage might not be such an awful idea, if the old armor soak system were to be returned. Gold is no longer a scarce resource at all; this means that there is no incentive for competition anymore. Everyone has millions of gold, and most people have enough looms for at least a full set of gear. Getting a +5 used to be something that mattered - it gave people a reason to actually take winning rounds seriously. I don't think anyone would question that the temperament of NA_1 (I don't think this is true for EU) is less than serious. The game will live on even if the gold is completely left alone, and doing a gold wipe/reduction is a risky move since we *JUST* got the game back alive again; but I personally wouldn't mind losing my gold to see the battle servers become competitive again - imagine plate armor actually being a resource you choose to use carefully.

Considering archers pay already less upkeep because of their lighter armor, they'd be able to spawn their ranged items without being affected in any way. However, infantry would get rekt so badly without the shitton of armor I can't even imagine it.

Still not as bad as native.
