What if you zig when you should've zagged? That also assumes you are only facing one other archer. What happens when you have multiple archers shooting at you from different angles?

On a 1 vs 1 vs archer weaving in and out to avoid shots while charging is a good tactic...if you have a horse. If you're on foot a good archer can still easily kite you despite the removal of jump shooting. Back when jump shooting was still around it was even more impossible to reach a properly kitting my old friendcher.

Pretty much any good archer is going to realize "hey this guy goes right to left at pretty consistent movement speed and zig zags. If I time it right I'll hit him as he goes one way or the other."

So you gotta be unpredictable with the zigs and zags. You can mix it up too. Zig zig then zag then zig then zig 2 more times before zagging 4. Mix it up.

i have a better idea to solve the archer problem

throw some sidesteps and backpedals in the mix too.

Agree, even on horse simple weaving isn't enough, sudden slowing down and acceleration thrown into the mix helps a lot too.

Why should ranged have the power to change the movement patterns of other classes? If I wanna go straight shieldless, they shouldn't be able to punish me for it.

Only ever aproach an archer with your back turned. His honor will prevent him from shooting you in the back and then once you're close to him turn around swiftly and gut him like a pig.

Low sensitivity, lots of desk space, and spinning exactly when you think your enemy is not expecting it.
