So Far Cry Primal isn't considered fifth in the series?

Can't wait to see the new edgy "crazy" main bad guy that you'll have to interact with a bunch, then kill.

So if Primal is its own thing they should do Far Cry Medieval after 5.

Yet another boring Ubisoft sandbox game with the same old shallow-as-a-puddle gameplay loop. Needless to say, I can barely contain myself.

Ubi hit the jackpot with FC3 and has been pretty much reskinning and reselling it eversince. I want a FC that improves on FC2. Despite being annoying, the game's setting and general feel is something I havent come across any other game before. But alas, that will never be. They will reskin 3 before it finally doesnt sell enough to justify dumping the entire series entirely.

I want a FC

Do you-really?

Yeah watched a stream of this and what a surprise, it's easy-mode casual Ubisoft bullshit with invincible NPCs and retarded, invincible animal companions with super shallow Far Cry 3 gameplay.

I only ever played the original FC. Is FC2 in that same setting (a tropical island with zombie monster things)?

Never seen the appeal of this series. You're pretty much doing the same thing in every game but prettier.

Watching some of it on twitch, and the opening cutscene seems rather interesting, like its an interesting story. I still have yet to see why it should be a video game and not just a movie though. Thats the issue i often have with these games, so much story telling that i wouldve preferred in a setting where i know i dont have to interact with it.

looks like a reskin of previous games tbh

As someone else put it, the appeal is in the free-roaming power fantasy, that this game gives you. There really isn't much challenge, but it's fun blowing away helpless NPCs with increasingly overpowered weapons. Exception to this formula might be FC: Primal (which I also liked a lot), which could actually be challenging (and had quite a few other things going for it as well).

Yeah, can't wait for the schools, being pulled over by trigger happy cops and accidentally strolling into a Ghetto, guaranteed to be as much action as any other Far Cry game.

Nah. No relation to FC1. You are in Africa(the worst part imaginable). You are poor, you have malaria that constantly harasses you. Limited medicine for it, guns constantly lose their functionality from overuse etc. In general, you are always one way or the other fucked.

The game is quite realistic on how it screws the player and mostly on its characters. Probably the only game in the series where they werent trying to be silly, but actually serious. This isnt a Rambo flick like FC1 or Batman vs Joker, like FC3+. If you ever seen that movie Blood Diamond, it kinda feels like that. The game is old and has its fair share of problems thou. Some people couldnt get around them. I personally could.

And then, from that cool, original gameplay concept, they did a 180 and made the player into a superhero that can't be stopped even if he's AFK. Yawn.

Well I would be lying if I didnt say I enjoyed FC3 when it came out. But how long are we going to keep the charade going.

Apart from True Detective S01, this particular story line isn't so common in movies or tv shows, so it is quite refreshing to see it in a video game. FC5 story is retelling of Waco siege.

Interestingly, Ubisoft's Far Cry games have some of the most interesting stories and best designed game worlds among first person shooters, but they are impeded with poor, repetitive game mechnanics. First game have by far the worst story and characters, but it was made by Crytek and they are especially weak story tellers.

My favorite is FC2 because I find Vaas and Pagan Min to be over the top, those games were crossing fantasy border while FC2 was sticking to the theme. This game has occult in it but that seems to be only fantasy elements, rest seems spot on story wise.

Yes, FC3's characters were retarded, but The Masses loved them. Also, the main character was written so fucking bad. He was still acting as a shy, stammering, innocent schoolboy by the time you'd slaughtered thousands of people effortlessly. The story progression for him didn't keep up at all with what he was actually doing.

FC:Primal was great and very unique, it's a shame the campaign ending was so bad.

I'll try fc4 or 5 when I'm in the mood for some brainless fps open world action

although I'd mostly play it because you can play through the whole campaign in coop which is pretty neat. It'll take some time until my bro gets a better pc though

never really got into any FC games, but i strongly reckon that ubisoft would get far less ire from consumers if they made some basic mod tools, or AT LEAST not bring the long dick of intellectual property enforcement against any would-be successful mods.

really wondering if i'll sink the 60 shekels into this. not at all a fan of "power-fantasy" type things like others have described. i like pretty games, i like shootan, i generally enjoy free-world, i like rural militias but i am concerned this won't be enough to warrant the purchase

Get it if you like free wallhack where enemies glow through trees and walls, and if you die, that's not a problem either, your dog will put its Jesus hands on you and bring you back to life. You can't get more casual than Ubisoft games.

i have purchased it on impulse, probably due to years of hyper-consumptionist social conditioning or just plain poor character

i'm already committed to enjoying it though, wish me luck. prob go artificial difficulty mode and go pistol only action hero mode or something
