Spooky shit, if you got windows 10 you should be fine, but blocking port 445 is recommended apparently. Older OS unpatched can all be infected. Seems to be speculated that its spread from north korea.
-
All you've got to do is install important security updates. Not too much to ask.
-
Well i had windows update off completely, so i wouldnt be surprised if others do too. My PC has gotten fucked from updates so unless something like this makes me update, then id rather not.
-
Iirc Microsoft patched this in March...

Yeah i read something about that as well, but still people may be unaware and unpatched. Seems to have affected a lot of people anyways!
-
Shouldn't have your OS updates off, just set them it to ask you before updates. MS puts out a lot of security updates.
-
MS even released an XP patch for this LOL

You Chrome users out there should probably disable automatic downloads if you havent already done so.
Good shit, can't believe that wasn't on by default. It always irritated me slightly but not enough to warrant hunting for it in the options, but I guess now's as good a time as ever.

Activated as well. And yeah its still news i guess, only now saw it by some recent posts and vids.

I went into settings to do what that site recommended and the Ask where to save each file before downloading option was already checked and I have no recollection of previously checking it so it must have been "on" by default.
