Title: Quake Champions
Post by: Gravoth_iii on April 21, 2017, 05:54:38 pm
Anyone tried this game yet? Beta codes going out if you sign up for them, and i just got mine so im installing atm. Lots of hate that it has changed the formula slightly by adding classes, but people dont realise that the old game has died out and that they need to change things up. Seems like strafe jumping and rocket jumping are still there, so the core movement mechanics is probably similar if not the same.

I played it last beta, not really liking it but it's ok, not sure how I feel about class specific stats and one unique ability, but hey "e-sports".

ah, I´ve always been more of a UT fan, nevertheless, it´s really nice to see how UT and Quake are starting with their old "who´s the best fast paced shooter" battle again

it´s like seeing two old grandpas picking up a forgotten fight, giving you all the feels of nostalgia

Having a lot of fun in the first couple of games. Getting some fucked up freezes and lags, but the gameplay is sick. Bunny hopping around is so satisfying when you can navigate tight maps well, and every gun feels really good to use. The abilities of characters seem to be kept rather basic but still cool, one active with 1 or 2 passives that affect your mobility. The characters seem to cater to players different playstyles well.

First impressions: Will buy the character pack for the game, even tho its f2p.

edit: Though there are a lot of issues in this beta, so id probably try it out a lot before. It is basically unplayable for me with current lags.

Damn was about to post video, but it got taken down cause NDA. New beta starts 27th, theyre probably sending out more beta codes then so be ready.

edit: They seem to respond well to feedback, lots of issues fixed that were reported, and lots of additions that people wanted like glowing outlines to make out enemies better (they used to be stealth camo'd when using black skins).

Played some, feels nostalgic as fuck. The core game is very much like Quake is supposed to feel. The passives and the active skill additions I didn't mind at all, if anything it makes the game even more interesting. The cooldowns are long enough not to impact the base game too much. My only problem with the game right now is that the tanks feel a bit too tanky.

2 Beta keys if people are interested, grab em while they work. Use at the bethesda website/launcher.

edit: Man the Beta forums sure are cancer, though im sure it applies to most games that have beta testing and forums for feedback.
