Why don't they just register. It makes me uneasy...

Probably search engine bots, or other, not-so-innocent bots trying to break through the spyware protection to mess up everything.

Just personal experience with the SMF forum engine. I use 1.1.10 instead of this shiny 2.0 (because of a skin that's only compatible with the old version), so many bots slipped through the old system - until I installed a nice mod that is. I assume this one has better built-in protection.
