Let's see him pull a bus by connecting straps to nipple rings.

Been aware of Wim Hof and his method for a while. He does seem legit. Plus he has helped one of my favorite MMA fighters (Alistair Overeem) and he really seems to have changed due to it when fighting.
Still some people claim you're just depriving your brain out of oxygen and it could be dangerous in the long run while doing the breathing exercises.

Posted about this guy during one of Bjord's retarded meltdown threads. Joe Rogan had a good podcast/interview with him. As far as I understand it the breathing exercises are about flooding your brain/bloody with oxygen. Don't see where the deprivation part comes in, its the exact opposite.

It's of course taken to less extremes than what Wim hof is doing but winter bathing is not an uncommon phenomenon here in Denmark, especially on the east coast of Sealand where I grew up. I think it's the same in other Nordic countries and Russia, often but not always connected to the sauna tradition.

A lot of people take it seriously in the UK as well. There are many people who go to lakes to swim during winter. A lot of seaside areas have Christmas Day swims in the sea as well to promote it.

Seems it's a lot of the 'white' world, mainly Germanic and Slavic: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter_swimming
My impression is still that Finns are the foremost winter bathers aswell as sauna-goers.

Yes, I would be surprised if it was more popular somewhere else. And sauna itself is a Finnish word.
Quote
Ice swimming (avantouinti) on its own is especially popular in Estonia and Finland. There is an Avantouinti Society, and swimming holes are also maintained by other groups such as the Finnish skiing association (Suomen Latu). The Finnish Sauna Society maintains an avanto for sauna goers.
There are lots of places where you can swim without sauna in Finland during winter. Helsinki has several places for avantouinti, with dressing-rooms and sometimes with saunas. There is also a number of ice swimming and winter sauna locations around Tampere.[1]
I was under the impression "winter swimming" translated to "avantouinti", but apparently not. Ice swimming is where it's at.
