Title: Offering a Loom Point
Post by: Zeus_ on March 17, 2016, 05:11:09 am
Im looking for a new weapon to loom.

How to win: Suggest a maximum of 2 weapons (preferably polearm or 1h, but i'll consider a 2h)and dont suggest any weapon i already have loomed

(click to show/hide)

i'll (try) to test out all the weapons within a week, and the first person that suggested the winning weapon will receive the loom point.

Edit: And I only have 21 str, so keep that in mind.

Svaerdstav for polearm / Spathovaklion for 1h.

Svaerdstav can be the best weapon in the game if you play it like any other non one hit style 4d, and it's a multi functional weapon (normal pole, hoplite, pseudo "lance" cav, sheathable somehow). Spathovaklion is a beast as I'm sure you know. It's fast, hard to see and defend against, hits like a truck with a little speed bonus, easy to land head hits with.

Both are top tier and fun, as well as being easy to trade on the marketplace

Grosse Messer is a hell of a cut weapon, especially for zero slots. Yet it remains long enough to not be too close to an axe. Also it looks dank as fuck with the loom pack.

Battle fork. Every single person should have a battle fork.

I've been playing with the Svaerdstav for a while now and really like it but couldn't decide if it was worth looming or not, but you bring up some good points. And i was hoping nobody would bring up the Spathovaklion considering i own a 1h bar mace and would hate to feel like a wasted 3 looms if i liked it more.

Anyway, thanks Chester!

Long Voulge, the longest (usable) 4d polearm
Bec de Corbin, 4d pierce and very fast
sorry, realized you have this already
if you are fine with the short length of the Bec, you should give Shortened Spear a try
I loomed mine and don't regret it; it's incredibly fast, low-budget and 1 slot

MW Boar Spear! Moderate length: 145, faster speed: 96, both are pierce: 27,  :o you can stop the horse, 1slots: a small amount of unique. 4D. If you're a cavalry, this is the best. Upkeep super cheap!

Mighty Iron Mace! 33 blunt, Knockdown rate: >50%.  My current 1H weapons, very heavy, very powerful! With this, a strong enemy will be afraid. Upkeep super cheap!

European Cavalry Sword; long, strong and the stab isn't completely useless, but still best left for breaking blocks at a distance.

Executioner sword; does ludicrous damage whether you use it in two or one handed mode (39cut as one hander if memory serves).

+3 Spear. Use it in hoplite mode or alone. 31 Pierce as far as I recall on the stabs, with a short but not-too-short weapon they are insanely abusable. 21 pierce on the sideswings, while moderate, is still decent damage in teamfights. Insanely fast weapon.

+3 Nordic Short War Sword. Not really the best weapon around, but my personal favorite I've got to dickride. Just long enough to not be absurdly short, with decent damage and outrageous speed. The sideswing to overhead feints/combos are fucking disgusting, and it is truly difficult to glance on stabs because of the weapon's moderate length.

Chester's right, though. The Svaerdstav is the most genuinely powerful weapon I own. It is probably the very best hoplite weapon, or at least tied with the ashwood or other hoplite choices. But in addition, it is a phenomenal 4d weapon. My favorite thing to do is get a stab or two off with the hoplite mode, press H so I toss my shield which fucks my animation directly over to swinging. Free hit on a lot of people.

+3 Iron Staff

It's like a faster long maul with no crush. Amazing duel weapon, it's fast to match bastard swords but deals bash on all swings equally with knockdown. You can also use with a shield if you have teamates near, knockdown on what is basically a spear stab will secure many kills.

One time (several patches ago) I jumped and thrusted on a full plate gobblin guy and ONE HIT him from head hitbox. Even disregarding that, it's an amazing duel weapon, on par with the bec. Cheaper (and thus easier) to carry as backup to your other polearm weps, compared to bec.

edit: staff, qstaff, and iron staff are all stylish as hell. Go Shaolin Monk or go home.

Bamboo Spear; it's long and beautiful too.

Iron Battle axe (1h).

It's got speed, stopping power, and eats shields and faces with equal vigor.  Also, reverse side for blunt/knockdown.

If you want something even faster, and with a slight reach advantage:

One Handed Battle Axe
(1h).

Naginata; awesome reach somehow deals a lot of damage.
And the Crusader Sword 1h is actually quite nice as well.

Edit: And I only have 21 str, so keep that in mind.

Spathovaklion/1h Bar Mace for 1h, Bar Mace is incredibly strong at the moment, and surpasses nearly every 1h blunt weapon there is, I think the only ones that stand in its path are the Iberian Mace and the Spathovaklion. Spathovaklion is pretty much impossible to see in fights so it has a massive advantage right from the start, add in the knockdown, blunt damage, speed and you've got yourself a really heavy hitter.

1h Bar Mace shares pretty much the same stats, though it holds less length to its name, however, it boasts a significant advantage in damage compared to it.

For these two it's a choice, do you want length or do you want damage?

For polearms? I love the usefulness of the Iron Staff/Quarterstaff, both are ridiculously fast, have decent range and do tons of damage when build right, I think it would work well with 21 STR, however the best attribute is that they both pretty much go either way. Really nice weapons all round.

Polearm: Glaive
1 H: Niuweidao (Trust me Masterwork of it is the best)

Masterwork Guisarme, not as slow as Bill, not as short as Bec, the sweetspot - you won't regret it, especially with 21 str, even with 15 it's almost a game breaker for your opponents

Many good 1h's have been presented, between the Knightly Arming/Nordic Champion's, I'd recommend the Nordic Champ's; ghost reach is a bit more extensive, I did lots of greasy tests on this. (watch me abuse it on NA1 when ur on)

My recommendations:

Long Espada Eslavona - It lacks on the cutting, but I'm sure you know first hand the dangers of the broken 1h stab... 27 pierce, 103length, 99speed (unloomed) <- gg

Bamboo Spear - tbh I always sucked cock with pikes/longspears, but when i tried the bamboo spear... that thing is jeebus... it may be shorter than longspear, but u can use that puppy in close quarters because its not unbalanced, it got upswing! and it speed is better than the other 2d PA's with 91!!

you cant go wrong with either of those ^ but many of these other people have very good suggestions that are just a bit more 4 specialized build

Polearm: partisan. It's 2 directional, but hell of a weapon if used right.

1 handed: italian sword or nordic champions sword. In my experience, if you pick one of these two, you're settled. Especially the italian sword slices through people like it's nothing

Also, if you prefer a more aggressive play-style, you can try the sword of war in polearm mode, but it's kind of difficult to get used to!

I don't know much about 1H or polearms, but if I had to loom only one 2H, it would be the miaodao. Compared to other 2H weapons, it is fast, long, and deals high damage (while still being balanced).

Okay, I would like to thank everyone who suggested a weapon for me to loom, but after much debate and using weapons I wouldnt have even bought in the first place, i have decided to loom the "Grosses Messer"

Grosse Messer is a hell of a cut weapon, especially for zero slots. Yet it remains long enough to not be too close to an axe. Also it looks dank as fuck with the loom pack.

Battle fork. Every single person should have a battle fork.

Thank you Sparvico for offering this great 1h weapon. Just PM me a link to your trade for 1 loom point and i'll accept it as soon as i can.
