What does everyone in NA set their nightime settings to anyways? I don't want to be the odd one out with trash nightime settings.

Oi nerd, it's actually DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time).

As explained by Richard Meade in the English Journal of the (American) National Council of Teachers of English, the form daylight savings time (with an "s") was already in 1978 much more common than the older form daylight saving time in American English ("the change has been virtually accomplished"). Nevertheless, even dictionaries such as Merriam-Webster's, American Heritage, and Oxford, which describe actual usage instead of prescribing outdated usage (and therefore also list the newer form), still list the older form first. This is because the older form is still very common in print and preferred by many editors. ("Although daylight saving time is considered correct, daylight savings time (with an "s") is commonly used.")[132] The first two words are sometimes hyphenated (daylight-saving(s) time). Merriam-Webster's also lists the forms daylight saving (without "time"), daylight savings (without "time"), and daylight time.[133]

I've kinda got the same question... I want to set mine from 12PM to 8PM so that way I could push back any battles during a weekday to primetime, unless I happen to get attacked at some ungodly early morning hour. In the strategus tab it says I have nighttime set at 12, and lasting 8 hours. When on the strat map though, it says my nighttime is 18 to 2, which would completely block out primetime. One would assume that the server must simply be 6 hours ahead of me, but when setting my regional time I am only 4 hours behind the server, leading to much confusion. So any clue which displays the correct time (in my timezone, EDT), the strat map or the strat settings page?

I think you have to use euromy old friend time in the website. I set mine to 5am for 8 hours which I think stops any battles after NA 11pm-7am. But that's my theory, I might actually be screwing other players with bad nighttime settings.

Edit: Fuck strategus says my nighttime settings are from 12pm-8pm. I think I fucked up. I'll figure it out later when I become less moronic and lern 2 math.

Honestly guys, I'm not gonna set a night-time and I won't ask my folks to do so either.

Sure, it sucks sometimes for us and I won't stop anyone from doing it, I feel that it is a feature that harms more than it helps- as long as a faction is not intentionally placing large, important battles outside of prime-time it is not necessary.

Gotta get to bed and go to work on the morning? Can't have a battle at 2am? Oh sick, let's push it back to 10am instead!

And christ knows what I would even set my nighttime to working 3rd shift, 2nd shift, and attending morning classes every week.

And speaking from experience, the very fucking minute some sperg tells his guys to set night-times, they are going to go onto the strategus legacy site which is set in GMT+0 or something, idiotically and myopically assume that OH EVERYTHING IS AUTOMATICALLY CONVERTED TO BURGER TIME RIGHT AMERICAN FUQ YEAH, and end up setting a night-time like 5pm-1am.

Then they'll come in and whine on the forums like it ain't their fault.

You got me, I admit it. Or at least strat 4 and the first half of strat 5 was like that for me. But I haven't got into any battles yet in strat 6 so I have no idea what my nightime settings will do.

All I want is a simple guide on: "How to set night time settings for Americans 101".  I can't work my head around the crpg time. I would assume that I take the timezone I set it for on the website, then subtract 6 hours or so and that would give me my nighttime settings.

Yeah this is my first time dabbling in black magic, simply because there have been an awful lot of large (not necessarily MASSIVE) battles at 4 or 5 my time and I'd rather not miss one of those if it involved myself... and I don't particularly think that pushing an afternoon fight back to primetime is all that evil (in fact if we could all do it then we can just avoid the "waaah, you attacked me at some shitty non-primetime time when I'm at work cuz I was in your territory, wahhhh" nonsense), so long as it actually works and doesn't fuck up a primetime battle.

Anyone know if I were to attack at an hour during my own nighttime if it would get pushed back? It doesn't, right?

Having no night time setting is the best. It gives your attacker the full advantage in when they want to attack. Which avoids problems altogether, most people click attack and don't think about nighttime settings of the defender so it gets pushed into retarded hours. Not to mention if douchebaggery from them is the goal it will be exposed by attacking late-night or midday truly instead of them being able to place blame on you for faulty nighttime settings.

If that is what NA desires, then that is what it shall receive. From henceforth, all nighttime settings for Taril will be eliminated (unless I want to pull a quick gay nighttime tactic)
