Title: Elegant vs German Poleaxe
Post by: Mattressi on January 09, 2011, 04:00:24 pm
Just wondering, is there any reason to choose the Elegant poleaxe over the German poleaxe? Stats:

German
weight 3
req 16
spd 92
length 131
swing 44, cut
thrust 29 pierce

Elegant
weight 2
req 16
spd 93
length 132
swing 40, cut
thrust 26 pierce

So, the Elegant Poleaxe has +1 speed, + 1 length, -1 weight, -4 cut and - 3 pierce. To me, it seems that the additional speed and length are far outweighed by the loss of weight and damage (is there any downside to greater weight?).

I'm working on a polearm build, but I can't work out why Elegant would be a better choice (more so, why it costs more). Is there something I'm missing? Why do so many people seem to use it? Is the small additional speed really worth it?

Yeah, elegant does look cooler (and looks like it should weigh more!), but surely that's not the only reason? Or am I just a stat whore who'd trade looks for a little extra damage?

When I had one I went for the elegant for  he extra 1 speed and the looks eventhough german one could be better but it doesn't look cool you know :P

Can't speak for everyone else, but I could have sworn that the stats have been played with a few times. At least when I bought mine the choice was obvious, I actually prefered the German one for looks. Not that I'll ever use a weapon that expensive anymore

German is better no doubts, and tbh with way it is now every poleaxe above long bardiche is kinda extravagant waste of money.
