Title: warhorses
Post by: Glyph on May 28, 2011, 11:27:44 am
warhorses need to be buffed, take a look at this:

War Horse
33,215
hit points: 120
body armor: 40
difficulty: 5
speed: 38
maneuver: 39
charge: 36

Large Warhorse
35,161
hit points: 120
body armor: 43
difficulty: 5
speed: 37
maneuver: 39
charge: 36

Cataphract horse
44,666
hit points: 120
body armor: 47
difficulty: 5
speed: 38
maneuver: 40
charge: 38

the stats just aren't balanced, the warhorse has to get a speed buff and a bit less armor maybe 110 hitpoints.
the large warhorse has to get more armor, more than the cataphract horse, because it has better speed and manouver, and that's fine but then the warhorses have to get buffed.

think, post, disscus!

I don't think they really need a buff. You're arguing over 1 speed/maneuver between the horses. If you take the price tag into account they seem pretty balanced to me. Not to mention the Cataphract has already gotten an armor nerf in the recent patch. You get what you pay for. If you dislike the models then that's your problem.

I kind of agree with Geon. I mean, the warhorse does cost more than 30k, which is alot for ANY item in this game, really, yet what does one gain from this? A slow horse that's unable to take THAT much damage? Generally, my large warhorse can take 6 or so arrows before going down, and while that might seem like alot realistically, it actually isn''t cRPG wise. There are many archers, and they shoot many arrows.

However the warhorses are the weakest of the tank-horses, and the cheapest, by comparison to the high tier tank-horses. I made the mistake of purchasing one, largely because I thought the other tank-horses were ugly as fuck. Still, I think, perhaps, all the tank-horses should get a bit moar armor or HP. They are AMAZINGLY expensive, and slow moving targets; and this is in a game where cavalry fights more like sneaky ninjas and isn't really designed to be tankish. My experience with the beasts is limited however.

warhorses should be between 41-43 speed, faster than a rouncey (which is an all purpose horse)

Aye they need a buff i agree
hardly anyone use them not because of cost but because they lose to the cheaper and ten times more agile horses...

right, the time it takes to get your horse killed by arrows is just as big with a courser vs large warhorse. they need to be cheaper, or atleast less repair

Well i am using basic logic.
%70 of cavalary use light horses.(As far as i observe , don't expect this percentage to be exact.)
It doesn't seem like this majority goes light cav cuz of "Both are balanced but light cav is more fun to play."
I do sense a balance problem in horses also.
I support the idea but i don't know what could be the buffing method.
Reducing price and giving heavy horses a lil more speed would be fair i think.

i agree, it would make them less killable and more people will be able to use them and not only the guys(including me) who have 300k and can offord the losses they make by playing with expansive horses

Exactly.
Now we have a fact that a warhorse doesn't really make the profit of 3k repairs each round.
I mean a guy who pays 1k to arabian war horse could help his team more than a heavy cav so why should people pay 3x repairs ?

This.

Heavy horses are horribly overpriced. There's no "heavy cavalry" class in the game, the only cavalry we see is light, that's a little sad for diversity.

i wanted to make a heavy cav class, but it takes your money as a motherfu...and it's not rewarding towards you k/d nor your team
