Title: Help, I need a new gaming mouse
Post by: Teeth on January 05, 2016, 04:58:49 pm
Currently I have this piece of garbage, but it stops responding for tenths of a second every few seconds, again. Stupid designers made the chord do two 90 degree turns inside the mouse, which usually cause wire failure within 3 years. I opened my mouse 2 years ago to cut and splice the wire, but now the wire is failing once again.

Now I fucking hate choosing a new expensive product like this because everybody swears that their mouse is the holy grail, probably only because they've sunk too much money in it to hold a different opinion now. However, I have got a few things I want from a potential new mouse and I can't tell from most pictures, so I am going to ask anyway.

Anybody know a gaming mouse that:
- Is slightly smaller than the G5, or at least less tall. I got manlet hands
- Is good for fingertip grip, which is what I think I use
- Does not have known tendencies for (wire) failure within 4-5 years.
- Is wired
- Costs less than 60 euros
- Has at least two thumb buttons, though they probably all have that

Thanks

I'll just quote myself. It's really a good mouse imo, around 50 € (i thought it was cheaper like 3 years ago). I never got any problems and it doesn't look like a transformer or what.

I have a roccat savu for quite some time now and I am more than happy with it.

Buttons still work well with nice response and not so loud like some logitech I had. I have fairly large hands still I hate those big mice, this feels exactly right for me. The sensor is more than enough for all my needs and it has a reasonable price, really recommend it.

Using this one for 3 or 4 years now. Works like charm. Program memory in mouse so basically you need the drivers only once and works the same on every PC and/or OS.

Cheap, reliable, got all the bits and bobs you want...

Has no fancy trademark name tho, so that might be a problem (or not).

Ah, I always wondered why the profiles of my mouse are still the same after clean install, apparently the Savu has the same feature.

I just use a normal HP desktop mouse. It's simple, cheap, and works just fine. I don't see why people need these fancy gaming mouses. Im sure people will disagree with me, but that's just my opinion.

This looks interesting:

LOGITECH G502 PROTEUS CORE 68,78 dollars on amazon.

At the same time I guess my MX518 is never going to break and it fits my hand perfectly so at the unlikely event of it dying I'd look at G502 or G400 (if they sell them somewhere at that point anymore)

Because you get so much better stuff if you only invest 20€ more (or even less) on top of that cheap shitty hp mouse. 10€ mice are absolute garbage and you have to buy a new one after every couple of months because it will self destruct. Not to speak of the horrible click response etc ugh...

The click response is perfect, it's like 3 years old already, and it's never given any problems. It's only problem is that it doesn't really look cool. :)

I have a razer naga mouse, I bought it because it glows red like my computer and I'm dumb and am willing to spend a large amount of money for something that doesn't help me game at all. It works pretty good, I've had it for a few years and never had a problem.

For playing CRPG, the thumb button is superfluous. They are very inconvenient in the fierce fight. I love the smooth and clean mouse, no extra buttons.

Extra buttons are god tier for flipping pages back and forth while browsing interwebs tho.

for reference

Are you sure you are fingertip gripping that thing? Looks like a palm grip to me, specially if you have manlet hands.

I would suggest Razer Deathadder (which is what I use), but the thing is pretty big and it's usually a palm grip mouse (I guess i use a combination of palm and fingertip), so not sure if it's the right choice for you. Usually goes for under 50€ and has worked for years without problems for me.

2 thumb buttons are a must, they come in handy in so many games.

Sweet, that's a good link. I found a similar one and apparently there is a lot of factual information about the quality of sensors, and now that I know that, I can't get myself to buy a mouse without a top notch sensor. My attention has been caught by the Zowie EC2-A

(click to show/hide)

Very stronk sensor and the size and shape looks good, but I probably won't ever notice the difference between this 55 euro mouse and a 20-30 euro mouse. Still, it's nice to not have the option whatsoever to blame your equipment if you suck. I guess I'll trudge through the list from your link and check the prices and shapes of all of those, see if I can find a good sensor for a good price.

Yeah, it's not a classic fingertip grip. Honestly this mouse is a terrible ergonomic fit for my hand and I have a really spastic grip. I sort of grip the mouse between my ringfinger and pink tips on one side, and my entire thumb including a bit of palm on the other side. My hand isn't even laying straight on the mouse, but at a bit of an angle. However, I really hate resting the my entire palm on the mouse, it just makes moving feel very clumsy.

Razer in general looks pretty good sensor wise, but the Deathadder seems pretty big.

Yeah it is big. Honestly if you have the option, you should go to a store and see how different mouse shapes fit your hand, that's what I did before buying into the Deathadder. I had a similar mouse shape to your old mouse before and I liked how Deathadder's front is shaped (it tilts up a bit instead of a progressive decline)

Zowie FK2 crew checking in.

Perfect for a manlet like me, only down side is it doesn't have side grips but the deathadder and steelseries sidegrips kept coming off anyway.

Tracking quality is pretty much the next most important factor after shape. Some "high-end" mice have absolutely dreadful tracking.

I use the side buttons for teamspeak push to talk and free look thing so they're useful.
