Title: [Catapult Tournament] -You bet your sweet bippy-
Post by: Jaren on November 09, 2015, 11:37:46 pm
I'm going to throw this out there again to see if it can gain some traction with an Event manager or two.  8-)

lol I thought about something like that already, but it will be hard to manage! and to find enough players who are able to shoot a catapult

Jaren and horns are some of the best team killers with catapults I have ever seen. Sign me up on your side please.

if you think that you can aim kill other peoples with catapult on purpose you are cocky :P
I may show up but honestly I am so done with catapults, way to master them is to know all the glitches and tricks that are as counterintuitive as it is possible.

also rule with being able to atack other catapults by players need some work, for example someone can just shoot it with bow, and to be perfectly honest you have no idea how hard is to defend one catapult from other players....

Also you don't really need 5 players, i think that 3 should be good but but 2 is fully operational crew. Tat may help you get more teams.

I know there are fave really good catapulters on eu but they may be long time gone(strat is dead).
personally I preffer to shoot siege towers.

Opposite team killed before completion of Catapult.

Feel like this would just turn into a duel tournament because of this rule.

My favorite catapulting experience was going to the far side of that one HoC castle (I think it was almerra) and raining hell fire down upon anybody standing on the wall. I think i had like -70 score or something before we got the wall all the way down. Good times. RIP strat engineering.

Slightly countered by this
"Once Catapult is completed Team may send all but 1 member into the field to engage enemies Catapult."
so they have to at least build a catapult first

The main reason I include a force is so that rounds are sped up... However, if you're doubting the possibilities for shooters to make efficient hits, I'm sorry you haven't witnessed enough catapult battles, anyone I've played/trained with (rookie, pulse, horns, colt, a good few frisians, HoC and remnants in random battles) are capable of at least loosing one shot on the field before making the catapult a priority

The shot I posted is from 3-4years ago, and from inside a Nord-Castle.

Zeus- As I said, this is most importantly for the fact that a straight forward catapult shoot off could possibly take a long amount of time.

Heskey- I see that as the most important part to the tournament, it's still very much a competition of arms, there is however an objective or quicker route to victory. Simple as put.

The main objective is to win... Either by the skill of your shooter or the metal of your arms at your side.

Hitting anything stationary is rather easy but moving player is almost impossible, it is more of luck that anything else.
I also have to admit that I saw a lot of catapult battles, more than you actually can image.

I could teake part in that turnament if that would be catapult vs catapult duel but in that case I will pass.

Mmm, the only thing worthy of the title 'Catapult Tournament'.
I know, it will be like every strat batle I played with catapult, bulid one and wait for hords of greyzinas to smack it down and hope to destroy target before they do that.

Forget a hord, a single dedicated agi-shielder can and will destroy your catapult if that's their only goal, I doubt any small team of melee fighters can stop that from happening.

Now imagine a team of 4-5 Kinngrimm/Corsair builds coming for your catapult where their only victory condition is to suicide and break the catapult.

Depending on whether or not people go for agi-shield builds will determine whether or not this tournament is just a duelling tournament or a kamikaze tournament where both teams rush catapult to break it first.
Well... dude I didnt here to smack my dick around but you really have to tell me that? I know that pain more than anyone else.

I agree. However, for those who haven't fucked around with catapulting for years during strat i wanna give them the opportunity to join in as well.
Catapulting is hilarious, Bob is right, it's extremely difficult to hit moving targets, however that's where you take the risk, when your team clashes with their's you can AoE err'body.
Anything that survives is on its way to its objective.

This is just a thought, the wheels are spinning more then I expected.
I'm cool with team play - objective style
or 1v1 fite me irl Catapulting.
