Getting back into the game with a Flamberge, but feeling a bit laggard compared to the twitchy poke/left swing Longsword spammers. Currently Rolling:
Lv 33
STR: 27
AGI: 15
WPF-2H: 111
WM: 3
ATH: 5
IF: 9
PS: 9
Everything else is 0.
Planning on building up to 27 STR / 18 AGI and maxing out WM/ATH both to 7. Suggestions on what modifications I could use on my build and the sort of armor/weight range I should have?
-
Personally, i would roll 24 str and dump the remaining to agi.
My current 2h build is 24/21 7WM, 8PS, 7ATH, 1IF lvl 34. When i reach 35 i will dump 3 more points into IF.
I think 24 str is enough, i can run full plate with it. Gothic plate with bevor, visored sallet, chased greaves all the good stuff. All the str requirements are met with 24str. I roll with a Danish just beacuse i always loved that sword. It could work with flamberge as well.

I dunno, low IF would make me uncomfortably squishy, especially agains the bec or lance cav, even if they still punch through my armor. Plus, WPF beyond 145 or so on a single melee stat is a bit wasted.

27 str + full if with 18 agi + 6 wm, 6athl is a thing you should try at some point ass soon as you have the level for it. tanking all dem shots and still slicing on is heaven on earth

lol yeah, that's kinda the idea I'm going for. Faster peeps tend to either run away from my swings or attack/feint faster than I can counter them with my own.

Most longsword fgts are easy to kill. If they get too close nudge/kick them and otherwise just backpedal them.

seeing maxed iF with non maxed wm is pretty confusing.
seriously lower IF 2 pts and max wm the extra utility of swinging faster and doing more damage is 100% worth it. This isn't the old days where no one wants wm.
or just go 36/9 and roll with your team.

My mistake, I didn't know they changed WM to be better since I was last playing. I'll respec in a jiffy. By the way, is there any way to remove the "hero" status to this character so I can have a free respec?
-
You can remove it by selecting a different character and going to the strategus tab, then click the box to switch the "hero" over. Unfortunately it takes a full 7 days to swap hero characters.

Damn. Oh well, it's not like I can't get it all back in like 2 hours or so.
Thanks for the advice. I think something preventing me from getting back into the flow of things is the unholy amount of lag and desynch my 2007 era PC experiences playing Warband/cRPG. Any suggestions on how to mend this without outright getting a new setup or replacing all the hardware?

IF lessens the weight penalty of heavy armors on your wpf tho, so dont drop too much if if you plan on using heavy armor

True that. With 9 IF I swung just as fast with light-medium armor (heavy aketon, padded tabard, etc), though more WPF is definitely a good idea.

Just FYI, at lvl 35 this build works brilliantly as well:
STR: 27
AGI: 17
WPF 2H: 141
WEAPON MASTER: 5
ATHLETICS: 5
IRONFLESH: 9
POWERSTRIKE: 9
Been playing around with that build for a while and it's amazing, however this is built on a skip the fun character I use to test builds on so perhaps it needs a bit of tweaking here or there.
31.6 total weight in gear however, I'm only wearing a Scottish feather cap so if you're looking to include a helmet the weight will increase, but I've found that you go really fast even with that weight on you.
I did consider increasing WM and ATH, but there seem to be an abundance of archers and xbows at the moment, so the tankiness really does help, and it also decreases the effect that weight has on you, which is why I kept IF at 9.
