Watch this, you little bitches.

Mmmh, really, what opportunities do planets in our solar system offer us?
-
Stars are just big energy sources waiting to be taken advantage of.

We have, it's called solar energy.

Planets not so much. Except lebensraum on crying Mars maybe.

Still not efficient enough. We need a Dyson sphere.
Dyson sphere around our sun? That's not very smart lol
-
The way we collect solar energy from Earth's surface is laughable. Like trying to get some energy from exhaust fumes of supercar instead of directly connecting to engine.

And how would you connect to our star

yeh, so dumb lol
-
When a species tears apart the stars and uses them for energy, that's when you know that species has grown up.
-
Gas giants! Jupiter can be our intergalactic gas pump. No global warming in space, bitches.
-
Problem with gas giants, pressure is too damn high. Our equipment can't go very far.
-
That, my friend, is a damn lie.

Once you started rhapsodizing about how primitive and retarded our method of solar energy extraction is I figured we're talking sci-fi level technology anyways. We might manage to finally crack gravity someday, who knows. If we do fuel probably won't be a big worry as far as interplanetary travel is concerned, so granted may still be a dumb idea.

Well actually Leshma wasn't that far off with his statement, it's just that we're not connecting to the source, but more like replicating it (http://news.mit.edu/2015/small-modular-efficient-fusion-plant-0810). It's not quite there yet, but it's not sci-fi either.
