Need GTA5 and Witcher 3 to drop in price. £40 for GTA is too steep for me and £45 for Witcher definitely so  :(

The most noticeable sale is the metro redux pack. 8€ for quite of a hardcore experience.

already played the 2 metros but tempted to buy the repack version cause it's the only "real" sale atm.

If you've played the first versions of Metro, buying the pack is well worth it. Especially for the DLC missions in last light. They gave me as much playtime as the main story itself. (40 hrs in total).

Tbh it's pretty silly to expect Witcher 3 and GTA V, which are both immensely popular recently released games, to have any kind of meaningful discount.

If you already played Metro there's really no point, those games have zero replay value.

Depends how long ago you played it. Finished the first Metro when it came out. Feeling like playing it again because I dont remember it anymore, but I do remember having a blast with it. Sometimes being forgetful can be a blessing.

Shadow warrior 2 just had an announcement trailer

If you have some money, and the will to slice with 100000 times folded katana. Buy the first one, incredibly satisfying dismemberment, and just easy to pick up and run & gun through. Very nice game.

I've played through both games about 3 times each, not including last lights dlc, which I played a lot of. Fucking love Metro, the games have enough to warrant a second playthrough for most people.

Been ages since I played 2033, so it's nice to try it with the updated engine and gameplay. And might as well toss the last light redux in aswell.

Metro 2033 Redux:

+ Get to shoot Russians
+ Occasionally you get a break from Russians by meeting monsters
- Russians, Russians everywhere (and a limited amount of bullets)
- Monsters, have to waste good bullets better spent on Russians on them

Truly, a game of much conflict.

Steam should instead be more competitive on prices for new games like the Witcher, which costs double of what you can get it for on GOG.

Ehh, depends. GOG has to advertise itself more. But Steam....well its Steam.

The replay is getting to play it on the Ranger modes. Makes the game so much better.

What? Its a great game! FPS games that are actually fun is a rarity, atleast when singleplayer.

I tried very very hard to continue the game but the story is bland and it takes so many bullets to kill anything it's frustrating not fun.

Besides the racing parts are subpar.
Title: Re: SUMMMMMER SALE!
Post by: Molly on June 17, 2015, 06:41:21 pm
Several buddies mentioned to me that it's pretty fun back then but I never came around to try it.
Now it was on flash sale and nothing until now was interesting for me. So I went for it.
Haven't played any real fps for quite a while now, besides Borderlands 2 but that was also maybe a year ago... and for that money, I won't regret it no matter how much I like it.

Last FPS I enjoyed was bioshock infinite but you probably have already played it.

Metro is very very good too.

[Edit]

Lol it's 75% off now at 4.99

Its not about the story anyways, its about the gunplay being tasty. I played at highest difficulty, it really makes you consider what to use because ammo is limited. And you really feel the guns while shooting, they have such a nice punch. Id take it anyday over a shooter with good story but bland gunplay. The game isnt that hard but you do have to adapt what guns you use to what enemies you are fighting. And you have to be pretty precise to keep hitting them while they dodge.

Just found out that there is a Rebalance Mod for Rage raising the difficulty with a ton of changes...
Gonna try that at some point.
And considering it's from 2011 - it still looks very decent.

Bioshock infinite seems to have really crap gameplay from what i heard, and i played metro last light, which also had very poor gunfeel, even at high difficulties it was incredibly easy and boring and had no feel to it when firing my ak.
Title: Re: SUMMMMMER SALE!
Post by: Vexus on June 17, 2015, 08:59:06 pm
Well bioshock is more for the powers and story than the guns.

And for Metro it's a matter of opinions I guess.

RIP steam wallet, I bought :

Bioshock serie
Wolfenstein : the new order
Deus Ex : Human revolution
Dishonored
Murdered : Soul Suspect

Enjoying a lot Wolfenstein atm, because the simple purpose of killing nazees while dual wielding assault rifles like a mad person makes it genuinely good.

I never had the Age of Mythology expansion with Titans, it has it's own full campaign so i'll likely go check that out, loved the campaign in the original. Got frustrated in and Egypt mission when i was young, returned years later and devastated it with new knowledge and patience.

Age of Empires 3 is fun with the Trade power card system thingy, one of the best RTS games i've ever played if you like hiding in a corner and rebuilding whilst the map thinks you're dead. As long as you have a town center you can spawn perks or troops with the thingy points you accumulate, in practice this means surprise samurai army!

Rise of Nations is awesome, never played it in multiplayer which is probably good cos i tend to stockpile nukes and rape every major city on the map including allies until the Armageddon count is 1. Also, maybe they fixed it for steam release, but the AI would never age up a certain point beyond you, one time as Bantu i wanted spears vs tanks so i stopped aging up, but the AI refused to get beyond a certain distance from me.

Expansion wasn't great, the Atlantean civs were kinda OP and the Titans at endgame often ruined things because it became a titan race a lot of the time. Campaign was fun though.
Title: Re: SUMMMMMER SALE!
Post by: Mr_Oujamaflip on June 18, 2015, 02:56:55 pm
It wasn't in the original, pretty sure it isn't in the new version but there may be a mod that fixes it cos it's on Steam workshop.
Title: Re: SUMMMMMER SALE!
Post by: Mr_Oujamaflip on June 20, 2015, 03:50:23 pm
Unfortunately not, there is a mod which removes titans from the game so that's an option but it can cause desync issues in MP.

Finally made my purchases, Shovel knight, Crypt of the necrodancer and Killing floor 2. Lets see if anything else interesting will pop up, feels like the indie games are the only ones daring to base their game around gameplay and not story, which is the only thing that intrigues me.
