lets face it, ever since gold was removed from duel, it lost a little bit of its usefulness. i LOVE duel; as a matter of fact, 80% of the Knights of the Black Rose, which i founded and no longer lead, was recruited while i was king by DUEL. it was like my interview process.
and when i was trained in the beginning, (thanks Thovex, Razzen and crew), it was done IN DUEL.

Duel is very fun, and a great way to enhance one's skill in the game. but as it stands, it is now rendered useless.
Furthermore, there is virtually no way to cheat, unless someone just let someone kill them for hours on end for shits and giggles. besides, with the marketplace now you can sell stones to have friends and clan mates give you gold.

i mean, lets say its 50 gold, and 500 xp. thats what one of the beta testers suggested.

you would have to make 2 kills a minute consistently for it to even matter.
120 kills an hour, at constant rate...

120x50, 120x500 = 6000 gold, 60,000 xp. not bad!

now consider that if you did it for an hour if you did good, you would get 40-75 kills in an hour of gameplay in duel, and its about 3,000 gold and 30,000 xp (60 kill average), and that in battle takes....

x5= 12 minutes to reach
x4= 15 minutes to reach
x3= 20 minutes to reach
x2= 30 minutes to reach
x1= 60 minutes to reach

basically, unless you suck at battle, DUEL WILL NEVER YIELD AS MUCH AS BATTLE, EVER. period.

so what'd ya say devies? can we get our awesome sauce back?

I disagree.
I am an honest person and i say i would abuse this system if i had any chance to get gold/exp per my kills on duels.
How ?
Invite a friend to duel server kill each other for the whole day.
If you want to earn money and experience i think you should join battles instead.That's more logical to meh.

giving gold and xp would be abuse , but gold only is ok, couse you can earn gold very easy now

i think xp only would be decent... not a big amount of xp, but a little bit. you cant give out gold though, not unless you want upkeep in the duel server... which would screw over anyone trying out their expensive gear.

What if you'd get twice as much experience and gold on the battle server with x1?

The last time I checked I was getting xp and gold, but only on the page. Unfortunatly noone is on duell server to test it ^^

EDIT: OK seems to be gone, but was getting xp and gold 2 weeks ago :(

A very small gold on duel server for every minute your are in a duel.

If a duel lasts more than 3 mins no more ticks are recieved for that duel.

The thing is the devs would have to decide the correct amount of either to be correct; i was thinking like 20 gold per kill, and 200 xp myself, seing as duels typically dont take long, and if they do, so what?

that would not be abuse if you were legitimately fighting all day. also, if you had the patience to sit there and kill eachother ALL DAY LONG, if you were both naked with danishes, it would still not be as good as x1 battle by the time the dev's got through with it.

Exploiting is not an issue if the rate you gain xp and gold is very slow...
If one guy wants to just agree to getting killed for 1 hour - so the other one can get gold - its just better to play battle anyway...

Alternatively - you can create a system:

1) If you kill an opponent of a higher level you gain more xp/gold
Note: This will make it more likely that you want to fight someone better than you.

Level difference (just an example)

- 8>16 = 10 gold, 40 xp
- 3>8 = 20 gold, 60 xp
- 1>2 = 40 gold, 80 xp
0 (same) = 80 gold, 100xp
1>2 = 120 gold, 200 xp
3>4 = 140 gold, 300 xp
5>7 = 180 gold, 400 xp
8>10 = 200 gold, 500 xp
11>13 = 220 gold, 600 xp
14>16 = 240 gold, 700 xp

2) Penalty for loosing duels:
As in battle, there is a chance for equipment damage.
If you continue to loose duels - you end up paying more fixing your weapons than gaining gold/xp.
This is a good counter for cheats (if one keeps letting him self get killed - for the other to earn gold he ends up having to pay for weapons repairs thus loosing money helping his friend getting money.)

I voted "yes, for xp only".
Just give the same amount of xp as your dead opponent's level, and here you have it. You can have fun AND still get a bonus xp.
Also... don't compare with 2 kills per minutes. I can invite a duel 3sec, kill someone, 3sec, walk to someone else, 3sec, wait for his reply, 2sec, and back to begining.
So that's 11sec per duel, let's put it at 12sec, 5 wins in a minute.

Duel is too easy to abuse without actually doing nothing (in the case someone asked for a tick for every min in duel, or in the case of constant xp gain, or in the case when winning a duel gives too much (like in the OLD times, 1kxp per kill if the opponent was high level enough)

xp only based on level, equipment rating and k:d ratio. so that killing a person wearing fully heirloomed plate with a flamberge and a 3:1 ratio nets you more xp than killing an average guy wearing average gear. It should work both ways so that if you kill a peasant while you're lvl30 with good gear, you should get less xp.

I haven't seen it in awhile though and so thought it was just a bug that got fixed. Maybe the duel server already gives rewards based on something? Somebody needs to test this..

I think duel server is the best spot to learn new tactics, etc. and sometime I get horrible K/D, by having your penalty for loosing, I'd have to go back to what I know and not improve.

I agree tho, we would need something to counter exploiting and all, in my opinion, if the reward you get is almost the same as x1, why would they lose their time leeching on duel?

A very low reward will make the duelers happy anyway, because they are already dueling without any reward and will probably bring new players in it.

Ban the abusers, if there is only 2 people in a server, just check it out, those who abuse can be weeded out

Best is to just give 1x multiplier to everyone in the duel server, as long as you're in a duel or less than a minute since you were in one. If a duel lasts over 2 minutes, one stops getting exp.

gold would mean you have to introduce upkeep to the duell server, but this would only work, if you get the same amount of gold like on the other servers.
otherwise you couldn't afford your upkeep. but this would leed to abusing.
