Title: The King of Games, and the Game of Kings
Post by: Penitent on April 28, 2015, 04:40:40 pm
The King of Games
I am declaring C-RPG the King of Games. Never has a single game captured my complete attention for so many years, and provided so much rewarding gameplay. This isn't based on my experience only though -- I know the same is true for a great many other players.
I want to commend chadz and his minions on their success. It will never be forgotten. I know, that when I am sitting in a rocking chair at a retirement home, half a century from now, and I look back on my life and think to the fun times I've had in my youth -- one of the memories that will arise will be the countless medieval battles I've fought in C-Rpg -- the thrill of the feint, the conquering of multiple opponents, the glory of the multiplicator. Shield-nudging people off a cliff, fighting on the flag, getting rich on the marketplace, getting ripped off on the marketplace, trolling. Seeing people get banned for trolling, and reading their essays so they could come back -- seeing people get banned for trolling and never coming back. Even remembering players who have passed away. Farming troops in strat, and watching your liege lords put them to ill-advised use in epic battles of prodigious XP generation. These are just a few of the things I will recall with my aged mind. I will be assured that the years have been kind to me, and I experienced joy in a way that only a medieval combat sim can provide.
So, to the King of Games, I express my gratitude. My only regret is that I have posted these thoughts too late for many players to see it -- since many have moved on. That brings me to...
The Game of Kings
We, the current players, are the inheritors of this legacy. We are not idle bystanders, or mindless consumers to be simply entertained. Those of use who have stuck around to this point have crossed that line. We are participators. A certain responsibility has been thrust upon us, believe it or not. We are the Kings, the wardens, the protectors of C-Rpg's legacy, whether willing or unwilling. My exhortation to you this day is to think about that fact, and what you will do with your position.
The King of Games is still with us, as long as the royalty come to participate in it's battles, it's updates, and it's forum. This is a great good. I believe the King of Games will be resurrected again in Melee: Bettlegrounds. It is our duty to do what we can to aid this endeavor. chadz and company, we stand ready...kickstarter or not. Beyond those two points, I cannot advise. Each man must ponder my words in his heart, and act as he is able to in good conscience.
Good luck, and may God have mercy on your poor soul for reading my entire rant.

"God, this game looks like SHIT. Never even gonna touch that." I thought to myself when I saw Mount and Blade: Warband back then... Still, would have never stuck to it so long without cRPG

Never played a game for so long. I'm sad I started it so lately. (On the other hand it saved a lot of time of my life)
After so many times where I talked about it to friends they finally wanted to try it. I told them don't bother mod is dying, I will stop playing it soon.... It's been 7 months now, I'm still playing it.

I don't get it either... I'm guessing he wants us to say "thanks chadz(and co.)"?
Well, if that's the case, thanks chadz(and co.).

Over 5,000 hours logged and I still play almost daily. cRPG is truly the best game I have ever played, and even though friends/family have made fun of me for spending so much time with a "stupid game" they just dont understand. To the friends I've made throughout the years, you're the realest homies I've had in a long time(Looking at SKoT/Bloc/Stark/Acre). I'll be your wingman anytime.
*Edit: Let me give you my damn money for M:BG already

I can't believe I've been playing fucking SA:MP instead of finding out about Warband and cRPG in 2010-2011. Still, got a lot of good memories, and it's the greatest game ever created, and the greatest community I've ever encountered. Even trolls here are adorable.

And I still can't believe that you actually returned to fucking SA:MP in 2015 :?
