Title: Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Post by: Leshma on April 08, 2015, 06:46:22 pm

Quote
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided directly follows the aftermath of the Aug Incident, a day when mechanically augmented citizens all over the world were stripped of control over their minds and bodies, resulting in the deaths of millions of innocents. The year is now 2029, and the golden era of augmentations is over. Mechanically augmented humans have been deemed outcasts and segregated from the rest of society. Crime and acts of terror serve as a thin veil to cover up an overarching conspiracy aimed at controlling the future of mankind…

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is coming soon on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Need new PC and need it soon. In next few months plenty of epic games will be released. cRPG will probably die once Witcher 3 and GTAV come out.

Was gonna make a thread as i'm the biggest Deus Ex fanboy ever and gifted original Deus Ex to tons of peeps on my friends list and bought all different kinds of versions of DXHR and the original and even IW and even the shitty Fall. And original Deus Ex is the best game i've ever played and DXHR is a worthy sequel.

No game could get me unhyped for GTA V other than this one. Fucks sake im so hyped and can't wait. It better be like HR with maybe improved boss battles, bit longer to finish the game, and some more Deus Ex (1) references.

I just hope you can actually do all that melee in the game...

...I have doubts.

Remember the FMV trailer for dragon age origins?

Pretty sure theres no melee. If anything it will definately just be executions in different animations. Its a stealthgame. Kinda like Thief or older Splinter cells. I wouldnt understand how it would work even if they did add proper melee. Everyone has guns in Deus ex. It aint Sleeping Dogs, where you get to do your kung fu majority of the time, because everyone is unarmed. Unlike in cutscenes and movies, trying to fist a lot of armed guys ingame or in real life is a really crap idea.

None of the games in the series since Deus Ex have been that great, I doubt this will be either, they should just stop now instead of shitting on a good games name.

The old Deus ex had a formula that was quite rare at the time. That formula is not rare anymore and in some parts its even kinda dated. As far as remakes go, I personally think they did the absolute best there is possible with Human revolutions, without it turning into a completely different game with just its name. Its probably never going to be spectacular again. Its just not possible. Not with this series...

Because you personally don't like it? The vast majority thought Deus Ex: HR was excellent.

It wasn't on the level of original Deus Ex but it did a great job of trying to get on that level. And was a great sequel.

Anyone has any clue what soon means in this case? Summer release, holiday release? Or next year?

Not before 2016, I'd say well more than a years wait for this one, hope it will be worth it.

Still i'd want it this year. Can't wait QQ.

Just wondering tho. From the supposedly leaked images it almost looks Crysis-esque. I hope i won't have to get a new graphics card.

I really liked Human Revolution, finished it 2 or 3 times which is more than I can say for a lot of games last gen. Looking forward to it.

Just being edgy because it upsets people, you caught me out. But HR is definitely not "excellent", good yes, worth a play through, but just didn't live up to Deus Ex IMO, all opinions but yeah I wish they'd stop using the name Deus Ex just to sell decently mediocre games.

I'm playing through HR right now after having had it for a couple years and not taking the dive and having just recently finished the original. I must say I prefer the original with all it's quirks rather than the modern game design standards that are a part of the recent one. I'm having fun albeit some minor annoying 'gamey' things like hacking computers/doors inexplicably giving money or hacking tools but finding the codes/passwords was less rewarding; or deciding to use lethal force nets less experience felt like it was hindering the open-ended aspects a bit.

Some of the design seems uninspired where "choosing" a play-style, or alternate route, involved invariably looking behind the box that hides the vent that circumvents part of the hallway/open-room/transition, or it gives you a security terminal to hack even though it wasn't part of a some side area but actually behind all the obstacles you needed to sneak past in the first place. An actual melee attack would've been nice as well rather than having to wait for a battery to recharge, but I guess that would make knock-outs too easy and render the double-takedown skill redundant.

HR was amazing and no doubt MD will as well but i agree. Original one is untouchable.

And my opinion should mean more than the nostalgia googles wearing peeps because i got introduced to the Deus Ex series with HR first which i found amazing and THEN i went backwards and played original Deus Ex which i found out (with HDTP and New Vision) to be the greatest game i've ever played and the best in the series. Regardless besides The Fall i've loved every Deus Ex game and the storyline is untouchable. Just hoping there will be tons of Deus Ex 1 references.

Mankind Divided is set in year 2029, the year when Paul Denton's clone comes to life. If would be foolish of them to choose that exact year and not connect the stories from the very beginning.

Also Mankind Divided doesn't have to be about regular vs engineered humans, as title implies. It could be more personal story, about two brothers who were separated. What role Jensen has in this is unknown, but I'm fairly sure we will see young Paul Denton in this game.

Looks pretty good. Nothing revolutionary or anything that gets me super excited, but looks like it'll be an improved Deus Ex: HR, which is good enough for me. The promised exploration+social hub stuff sounds good too.

It looks like they got rid of the the neon golden shower on everything from HR. That alone is a huuuuge improvement.

I hope it isn't like the previous game in that lame way of pretending to give you multiple ways of doing stuff but only really rewarding you for one.

Yes, that, i fucking hated it. Completely wrecks the whole "do things your way" concept. Especially since stealth was actually easier most of the time.

At least they kind of fixed it with the directors cut. If you went for a stealth character some of the bosses were just brutal. The cloaking woman killed me so many times.

I thought they already announced like a month ago that they were gonna delay it. It's good imo. Too many games nowadays feel rushed and then suffer when it comes to quality.

They're probably planning a second round of ridiculous preorder marketing.

They said they weren't doing it anymore because they listened to the fans. Had they went the Activision/EA route they wouldn't have given a damn.

Yeah they listened, so they stopped it.

Then they do something else.

Game is out now (well a lot of people have already gotten their hands on it) and everyone seems torn about it. Overall it seems everyone praises the soundtrack, graphics, VA, setting, atmosphere and pretty much everything in the game including gameplay EXCEPT the story. Many people are saying it leaves a shitty cliffhanger with a lot of stuff unexplained that could possibly be explained in future DLC which sucks. And has a relatively slow start (story wise)

But yet others praise the story.

Seems like the kind of game you'll have to play for yourself to settle. Gonna get this for sure eventually (when I fix the PC) since I got the biggest hard on ever for cyberpunk and the Deus Ex series.

But seems like the story could be the biggest flaw in this one but I'll just have to find out myself.

(Also some fucking retarded mainstream reviewers criticized the game for using Illuminati in the game like it's somehow a cliché....DO they even know what fucking game they're playing and have they even played the original Deus Ex let alone HR?)
