depends of the brand. VW (means people´s car haha) is expensive as hell but you get only cheap quality.

not really, VW is solid and has a good durability, they are not that expensive either. Polo and Golf, these cars are ruling the streets in germany.

ive seen a VW passat with over 400,000 miles on the clock, the reliability and durability are unbeatable even for the japs. if u wanna save money buy a skoda equivilent there the exact same cars made in the same factorys.

Ive never really liked mercs but overall ze germans make dem good motors for sure

have a Benz from 1977,  runs like a charm.  actually sounds like a WWII aircraft when starting up the 4.5L engine.

next to that I have had a bunch of VW:  golf III, IV, V station wagons,  a VI limousine,  a 4wd passat station wagon und a T3

all of them where great,  reliable n whatnot.

just really like the sturdy feel a german car gives.  ofc others do that too,  some dont tho

My first car was a Polo.

Paid 8000 €,

Paid around 8000 € for repairs over 6 years - had problems with the electronics 24/7, catalytic con, engine, etc. pp.

Got 7000 € from Insurance cus some cunt hit me while i was parked... maybe 5 months after i got the car...

After that it was kind of broken though. Was still driving - but there was water leaking into the cabin when it started to rain....

And when it started to smell funny i sold it for 1000 €.

Bottom line:

8000 € For driving a "very solid" car that "never" let me down for 6 years....solid my ass!

the best german car is skoda :)

Except it originated in czech republic.

Too bad our economy is centered around selling away our industry, instead of the products it produces. (it is also centered around selling our land, cultural wealth, and tunneling of the state budget, avove all the other stuff)

ok, i have to specify this. my first car was a polo 2. it was simple, frugal and sturdy.
well, my experiences with newer vw´s were not so good, plus the vw service was quite unfriendly even for german standards.
quality wise it has changed from "it has to last forever" to "it has to last until the next model series".

8k euros for Polo?   Also, which gen of Lancer? I want old-school Lancer IV

I have my Skoda with WV 1.9 engine. Works like charm after 220k. And I love it for sound, damn old engines do that right!

I have heard that newer WVs, Opels and Mercs decreased on quality.

I usually don't like station wagons but goddamit that looks nice. I guess Seat is one of those manufacturers who shouldn't even make the basic sedan (ugh toledo).

Yeh 8k cus 9n and 1 year old, 10k km.

Lancer CSO 2.0 2007. Excellent car. Not much extravagance - but a solid car with a powerful engine. Sits on the road like a tank, drives like a regular limousine and simply is indestructable.

I can live with that. I like nice cars like the next dude but I am a bike guy...

I'll keep spending shit tons of money into bikes and just have a regular, practical car that is reliable.
If I want power and speed I take a bike - I'll already blow your Cupra out of the way on most streets :P

i have a car to be independent, i don't use it to go to work, because my work is approximately 2 meters from my bed, but i use it for going anywhere anytime i like when its reasonably faster than other kind of traffic. in prague its 75% public transport and 25% car, outside prague its the opposite. it makes life much easier. i used to be road bike for life guy as well (going 2x20km to high school every day except for december-february), but now i'm to old for that kind of shit :)

Couldn't have said it better myself. Not to mention how expensive and crap public transport is in Northern Finland. It's actually cheaper to drive your own car than use long distance public transport :D.

Wow, look at you motherfuckers brag about your rich lives and your expensive cars.

Most of the people I know that have their own cars, their car is basically the only valuable thing they own and they're actually pretty poor (also due to the running cost of said car) :p

sold the alfa romeo i got from me mum when i was 18, proud member of byk mastru race, having saved probably tons of money that I would have otherwise spent on fuel, maintenance and car license registration
