So I've been thinking to create a specific clan, I made this thread to see if there would be anyone willing to join my idea. I don't want to waste money on a banner and such without making sure I can get some members.
I am already the leader of Varangians, but the clan is inactive. People are gone including other leaders and I don't know why, it's pointless. I want to start something new, and with a few members we can contibute a little to the banner and such.
The idea: The Kievan Rus (Aka old Russia) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kievan_Rus%27) Our banner: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coat_of_arms_of_Ukraine Our theme: Strictly Eastern Slavic Historical timeline: 1020+ AD (Orthodox). But if people want the pagan type of theme. Sure, we'll do it.
More info on Kievan Rus, you should read. And also on the fact that they were Norse-Rus united.
Why this banner you may ask? Well, simple. Let me explain below.
"The design has precedents in seals of the Kievan Rus'. The first known archeological and historical evidence of this symbol can be found on the seals of the Rurik dynasty. It was stamped on the gold and silver coins issued by Prince Volodymer the Great (980–1015), who might have inherited the symbol from his ancestors (such as Sviatoslav I Igorevich) as a dynastic coat of arms, and he passed it on to his sons. The symbol was also found on the bricks of the Church of the Tithes in Kiev, the tiles of the Dormition Cathedral in Volodymyr-Volynskyi, and the stones of other churches, castles, and palaces. There are many examples of it used on ceramics, weapons, rings, medallions, seals, and manuscripts."
Colors of this and variations can be made customly, I can do it.
Not a clan for minmaxers and people who want armories of +3 Kuyak's. It's just for historical reference, fun and a nice banner. We had historical clans before guys, like HRE, Byzantium. Let's bring it back?

Mate, but what about Druzhina, isn't their theme exactly the same, you could just join up with them, they mostly play in the Kieven Rus themed gear. Good luck in any case!

Druzhina requires to know perfect Russian. Druzhina also has no forced theme. On top of that a Druzhina is some few hundreed men of a Russian Knyaz (his personal guard). That's what a Druzhina is. This is the entire union of Kievan Rus I'm trying to represent with strict restriction to historical accuracy & our own banner. Just a nice tight knit clan mate.

There was a Kievan Rus clan in NA for a short period of time, using the banner:
Good luck with your clan, and if you want to use that banner I can contact the guy who made it to ask for his permission, although I doubt there will be any issue.

Yes, if you can ask him for permission it would be nice because that banner looks realistic and sweet. I really did not know that clan existed for NA.
The problem with getting clan members is that people are not interested in historical clans and want to just screw around. If you get me permissions by tomorrow I can make the clan tomorrow and start recruiting, it's my only chance if it is put in motion

I have made the clan, and quit the last one. I'm trying to get an exclusive banner but no matter how much I bet someone has bet 1 more gold than me at the end? I dont understand. It's automatic?

ya he has just but whatever amount higher then you, and as long as you bet less, his bet will automatically be one gold higher then yours

No idea how this works. It's his overall gold? I don't understand. I bet 150k and 50k on another one in 13 hours and I can't outbet anyone? So how do you get an exclusive banner lol? They're like half a day to a day inbetween. Pretty weird if you ask me.

lets say he bett 500k.
you bet 50k, price will be 50 001 for him
you bett 400k, price will be 400 001
you bett 600k, price will be 500 001 for you

Thanks for the explenation (I never understood this). I am leading the auction now. Hopefully tonight and for the upcoming days clan will be up and ready to recruit. But this cost me 200k
Edit: No way to outbet this guy. I got like 450k not 10 million lol. There really needs to be more banners being sold now that the game is dying.

Hear the plea of this guy. Banner auctions are downright stupid. Just show the actual damn bid and let anyone place another bid on top of it. It is always like playing lottery. You just shovel your gold in over and over again until you hit that lucky number that wins you the auction. And then you return five minutes later to see that some other guy somehow outbid you. Time to try your luck again until you hit that perfectly unknown number.

As blockula put it yeah. It's really not easy. I'll try winning the upcoming banner slot(s). Today and tomorrow. This night and whatnot, it should work. I made a big bet.
Once I get the banner on, I will start making a thread for the clan and after that I will open the applications.

I got my banner for 13k the first time then 10k the second... Just look at who the banner is when you bid on it, if its some big name clan maybe pass.

Yeap, it ended up costing me 53k as nobody bid higher. It's a strange system.
Today I assign the banner and today I will make a thread for Kievan Rus, once it is finished I will make sure to open applications
