Title: About patch 201
Post by: Diablo on January 08, 2011, 11:57:14 pm
Hello CRPG people,

I dont want seem an ugly old boy about this patch but...

REPAIRS

The minimum :
x1 max gold by minute is 50
time round is 8min
We win 400 gold

The maximum :
x5 max gold by minute is 250
time round is 8min
We could win 2.000 gold

The repair is actually 5% by element :

For a full plate (not the max)

helmet 450
body 1.500
hand 500
boots 230
weapon 500 average (1h/2h/pol arm/bow/crossbow)
weapon 500 average (1h/2h/pol arm/shield/bolt/arrow/trowing)

TOTAL = 3.680 max by round
+ a plate horse +2.500

For a middle armored (average)

helmet 300
body 500
hands 400
boots 150
weapon 500 average (1h/2h/pol arm/bow/crossbow)
weapon 500 average (1h/2h/pol arm/shield/bolt/arrow/trowing)

TOTAL = 2.350 max by round
+ middle horse +750

Repairs seems to me a good idea, but actually cost a lot...

1% repairs will be not better?
---

XP/GOLD

If good team balance we all stay to x1 or x2
And all we lose money to repair and dont win XP...
The new XP/GOLD system is not good...

The last XP/GOLD system wasn't be better?

If you have 400 repair cost on hand armor, then you are not wearing average stuff. I wear mail and made 50K gold since patch. My repair costs are much below 200 gold per round on average.

Well, I forgot to mention that I only play siege, so the situation on battle servers might be different. But what i said is true, some rounds I have to repair nothing, other rounds eq for 500-1500 gold, but mostly it's my mail mittens or boots that go bust, and they cost like 90 gold or something.

With equipment costing roughly 27k, or 34.5k with my horse (that I use roughly 20% of the time), I am still making money.

I can see if I wear for >35.000 gold, I can win money.
We can't be in plates... We shall necessarily have to lose a lot of gold to get dressed again as farmer to begin again this round again again again...

But it's not the real problem...

Problems :
- If good team balance (we all stay to x1 or x2).
- If the round is quilckly end (no win money/experience).

Just to say This system cannot work suitably

The last XP/GOLD system wasn't be better?

With the previous patch, <250 gold when we won  and/or <50 when we lost.

Gains gold/xp by killing the opponents and by staying near the battle seemed to me more interesting.
It was our actions and our initiatives that award us our gold/experience and the victory... not a vulgar pendulum...

Why not to just add "repairs" with it?

It's true, maths are the truth...impossible to MAINTAIN plate, impossible to MAINTAIN good chain stuf if you're unlucky..

Now you can't play one or two round for fun, you MUST lay for at least an hour to have a chance to reach the x3x4x5, wich allow you to make profits.

impossible to MAINTAIN plate,
It should be.  Much better this way.
impossible to MAINTAIN good chain stuf if you're unlucky..
Define "good chain stuff"?  Surcoat over mail is good, heraldic chain is good.  Hell even the red tunic over mail that I wear is good.  That's all quite easy to maintain.

Now you can't play one or two round for fun, you MUST lay for at least an hour to have a chance to reach the x3x4x5, wich allow you to make profits.
Entirely false.  The math has been done over and over again.  If you LOSE every round (staying at x1 modifier) you can average out 20+k worth of gear fine.  Given a 50/50 win ratio you can go much higher.

20k gear, for a lvl 30 char, woaw

Let's play as a farmer with a fork and delete lvl and lvling. If lvling is not synonym of better stuff, it's so stupid.

So what? 20k?

my long espada, 8k, my huscarl,6k, and a mail shirt. MMMhhh realy nice stuff, do i have to run around like a hobbit without boots? do i have to let my hair blowing in th wind? and my fingers cut every round? I'm a proud warrior who killed thousand of enemy and where hit many times, I'm a mercenary leader with 1200 man well stuffed under my command on Strategus. And you are saying that i have to be stuff like a low experienced footman?

Tsss tsss, Gorath stop talking'bout things you don't know.Please.

If I do not repair my equipment, what it becomes in the worst?

Exemple :

weight 3.25
requirement 17
spd rtng 90
weapon length 141
swing damage 42, cut
thrust damage 31 pierce

- It can be totally destroyed and it'll be disappear from my inventory?
- It loses only some characteristics?
- Could be 100% repairs?
- If it destroyed, i can wear it?
