Title: Terry Pratchett died today.
Post by: Xant on March 12, 2015, 07:31:48 pm
One of the best authors of all time. I haven't seen anyone else who's able to write witty dialogue like him at such a consistent level. A lot of the things he said were very smart, too, even if they were written humorously.

"DON'T THINK OF IT AS DYING, said Death. JUST THINK OF IT AS LEAVING EARLY TO AVOID THE RUSH."

“YOU FEAR TO DIE? "It's not that I don't want... I mean, I've always...it's just that life is a habit that's hard to break...”
For me the best author ever, eventho i needed to read the books in german since my english sucks

Terrible that such a brilliant mind succumbed to Alzheimer in the end, he should've had a good twenty years left. Long live his memory.

Xant, for that I just removed you from my ignore list
Since I work at a tv station, we got informed by our boss quite close after the info was released and it really struck me (we got informed because we´re soon airing a diskworld movie and he wanted the announcement changed so that we air it in his honor[as if we wouldn´t have aired it anyways, pff]).
By far my favourite author, I learned more from his books than a lot of our school books and literally laughed tears because of his excellent choice of words.
First pic is made by marc simonetti (original seems to be 3702×6000, but I guess you´ll have to ask the artist for a print version) http://marcsimonetti.deviantart.com/art/nightwatch-Terry-Pratchett-182401550

First time I've felt a celebrities death affect me. He showed me how superior books can be to other forms of media and made me love reading. Will miss him.
