Hey I'm sure this problem is somewhat common for a lot of people. It's always been a minor problem with the game that would cause it to crash about once a month or week or so but recently it's become a lot more common for me, like twice a day. At first it always happened when I was at x3 or x4 on the seige servers and in my paranoia I thought the server might be rigged, but the CTDs have become more common ever since. When the game crashes to desktop it usually happens between maps. Usually I will hear the windows chime sound and the screen will go black, then the game will dissapear or windows will prompt me with a message saying "M&B Warband isn't responding..."
My system specs are
Win 7 32bit
Intel Quad Core Q6600 2.40GHz
Geforece 8800 GT
4 Gigs of RAM
I switched the game to DirectX 7 mode after I was having some issues last month. My hard drive has also been getting pretty full recently, would a full or fragmented hard drive be more likely to crash?

how much ram do you have?
For good measure you could reinstall Warband and cRPG. Clear out any unneeded files (empty trash, temp folders, etc) and defrag (defraggler (http://www.piriform.com/defraggler)is a good, free alternative).
If crashes continue, then try updating vid drivers. Other than that, not sure. I had that same setup with a 8800gts and w764 last year with no problems.

Like I said I have 4 gigs of ram. Sometimes I get an error prompt when the game crashes but once I hit any button the window and game both dissapear. I only catch of glimpse of it when I return to desktop. Is there any way I can read error prompts that were dismissed seconds ago?

I've got the same thing, been happening for a while now... Just happened on x5  any luck with any of the advice?

I've tried the cRPG optimization patch from Smegd, but it didn't help. I still get CTD roughly every 5th mapchange. I also get frequent disconnects and double-frame-loop-freezes. I know, this doesn't help at all...next week, I'll play some long rounds of Native on several servers to compare.

Let me know, I had it again yesterday on x5. really frustrating

So, is it here something what can help us with crashing between maps?

Make sure you have AT LEAST 2 GB free on your harddrive. This is space used by the HD for virtual memory, which is like poor mans ram. This is especially needed for systems with less ram, like you with your 4 GB.
Defrag if needed (use the analyze button), as it will help your load times dramatically and be less prone to stutters if you dont have 'load textures on demand' on. If you are playing via Steam, you can also have Steam defrag game files, which can be helpful.
You might also try turning off any security software, as they are notorious RAM hogs.

No no, I've got around 450GB free space on harddrive (I think that is enough :D) and 8GB RAM
I defraged M&B in Steam but it's still crashing...
