But archery is not the object of this thread. And its not the Principal stuff has been changed in the patch. :)

Changing strength requirement on great lance from 11 to 22 was a good thing, as well as the other requirement changes.

However, you still only need 1 wpf in polearm to be efficient with it.
That could be solved by making the wpf affect cooldown time in between couches or maybe the time it takes to lower the lance.
Can't be too hard. It's done with reloading speed of crossbows and firing speed on bows.
