DayZ clone, set in medieval age. Looks shitty, but still better than War of the Roses. Like Chivalry with a purpose. Days when medieval combat games were scarce are finally over.

Yeah, but Rust is clone of DayZ in different setting. If you are wondering why FOV is so weird in this game, it is being made by the same team which are "developing" StarForge.

Sooner or later, they'll buy it anyway. That is why I started this thread, because everything I write has negative vibe attached to it. Imagine if someone else, who is "respected" in this community started the thread. Early access pre-orders everywhere.
But in the end it doesn't matter, because only handful of people know how to use forum search function. Inb4 Gloria Victis.

Combat looks a lot like Chivalry = utter shit. And I wouldn't even call Chivalry a medieval combat game. It is just an arcade game with swords, axes and stuff in it.

From what I've seen on youtube, doesn't look too shabby but it is kinda average. Pretty much like other games of that kind (survival).
It has a cool char editor, you can make a fattie.
Edit: Combat is utter shit, though.

Me and like 8 others were playing it today and i must not lie the combat is shit but honestly the game is pretty fun! Also idk what it is with cutting down trees but it is very satisfying :lol:

Been playing it for 14 hours now. Haven't played Rust because not a fan of the guns vs rocks. What I like about it: - Pretty graphics - Some nice ambient sounds --birds chirping, the ocean, thunder (think DayZ) - Build castles - Claim Territory by placing a banner in your building -- others cant build in your borders (nice so people can't hop your walls) - Survival - forage for food, get water, hunt animals - The King - one person in the server can be a king by claiming the throne - they can be overthrown of course. The king gets to set taxes that other players pay as they gather materials, high taxes really motivate people to overthrow the king, but also make it a lot harder for to collect materials. - Proximity voicechat - When you log out you turn into a "Sleeper", ie your avatar is replaced with a guy in a sleeping bag and people can kill you if they can reach you. So log out in the safety of your territory or find a really good hiding place. - You can tie people up with rope and imprison them or send them to the gallows - You can make crossbows, bows, siege equipment - Weapons, armor, and blocks are all tiered (wood, leather, stone, iron, steel | dirt, grass, clay, wood, stone, stone slab) -It's possible for someone with a starter weapon (a driftwood club) to beat someone with late game armor and weapons if they are good at blocking and maneuvering.
What I don't like about it - The combat is like Chivalry - good thing is you can block and there is a stamina bar. But many fights end up as run around the person hitting or kiting. You can choose which way you swing horizontally, but it's purpose is more so you don't hit a wall or tree while you swing. No directional blocking. - Very little inventory space and the containers chests are quite small too.
Not many negatives. I've only had one game breaking bug occur in 14 hours. A couple smaller bugs. It's a fun game and for $20 bucks I've already got my moneys worth.
Today two knuckleheads tried to break down my gate. I stood on my wall shooting arrows at them. One guy managed to double jump (it's possible to do against blocks) on to my wall and began running around my base. I ran behind him slashing him with my 2h steel axe. After he was dealt with I went back to the 2nd guy still hacking away at my gate and asked him to leave. He demanded a fair fight so I obliged and engaged him in a duel. After a few well time blocks and swings, he was dispatched as well. Went back inside and made myself a chicken leg. Good game.

I'd like to buy this but games like these reminds me why i usually stay away from indie games and especially these early access DayZ copies. They never get finished and got so many bugs and hackers it's insane.

Pirated it, tried it, combat is pretty horrible even with the best of pings, though I did have fun making a shit ton of Javelins and killing some dudes with them.

Probably not lol. I gave up trying to play it because of Hackers, even a decent white listed server I got onto, I ended up being insta killed by an invisible hacker, losing all my shit again. Maybe I'll try again once they release their new anti hack stuff.

Hacking is a pretty big problem in these kinds of games. War-Z, Day-Z, Rust, H1Z1 had problems with this as well.

yeah I played them all, the worst one for me was War Z, me and a few friends played it and every single play session was ruined by some flying russian with a sniper rifle shooting us from the sky or groups of wallhackers, funnily enough they were nearly always Russian, in every single game, devs just need to ban Russia from playing with anyone but Russians, then they can all cheat together lol.

Yep, you'd think they would have thought ahead about their own peoples "cheat culture". Hey, I'm not anti-Russian or anything, I have Russian friends IRL, but it seems to me in every game I play that has hackers ruining it, it's nearly always Russians lol.

That's how it goes on EU servers, Russians cheat. On NA servers it is usually Brazilians who cheat online. There is something about those big ass countries with lot of poor people...
