I suspect ESO will be shut down, or go to a "Free to Pay to Win" model in a year, + or - 3 months.

so obvious

so obvious
Except this is going buy to play like Guild Wars 2 and like TSW did not free to play. All content in the game comes with purchase. Also because its not going free to play you will need a xbox live or ps+ membership to play it on the consoles. Unlike DCUO which requires no ps+ to play it online on PS4.

They should've made another ES instead of that MMO crap.

MMOs come and go. Every single one of them has the goal of taking down WoW from the MMORPG throne. None of them succeeds. WoW still the king even after all these years.

I don't understand why everyone seems to think it was an either/or situation.

The MMO was made by a completely different team than the singleplayer and doesn't have anything to do with the development of the singleplayer series. It isn't like Bethesda is so short for money that they can't hire a new team to try a MMO out.

I am too. I bought the game at release but didn't continue to sub because I don't spend enough time in mmo's to warrant paying one and now I don't have to.

It's probably gonna be worse now. SWTOR (A cool MMORPG) sucks for F2P players. Probably gonna be P2W or pay to unlock races/classes etc...

Its not f2p though- you still have to buy the game, and last I looked GW2 you don't have to pay to unlock races/classes etc. or did GW2 change as well?

Guess not, still can't topple WoW tho. Wonder if they'll sell it for full price tho.

No idea, probably, because the console release isn't til june 9th and they are listed full price on amazon and newegg. Greenmangaming has a 23% off coupon valid on certain games which ESO is part of.

Unless you're not talking about SWTOR, it is free to play, but you have massive cons compared to players who buy everything they can get, which is unfair and disgusting, not the same game at all if you compare both cases.

I don't understand why everyone seems to think it was an either/or situation.

Oh well, I thought it was the same team. Still, the game remains some P2W crap. I'm actually glad it's not the same team, or I would consider not buying the next opus of ES, since I saw some catastrophic cases about series turning shit (most notable example being CoD).

Like who gives a fuck about toppling WoW anyway? That's so last decade. An MMO doesn't need to kill WoW to be considered a good MMO. FFXIV for example has way less subscribers yet it's doing great, getting new subscribers all the time and absolutely massive amounts of new content (free, outside of expansions) added on a regural basis.

Every publisher supporting these ''WoW killers'' ?. And if that was so last decade how come Gay Wars 2 failed even after all their fanboys were praising the hell out of it and sayin it will be the one to dethrone WoW?

Retards say that about every MMO, that it will kill WoW. I wouldn't say GW2 failed since it was buy2play anyway, but for me it was because the game just wasn't interesting enough. It has nothing to do with being praised as a WoW killer or failing to kill WoW.

I played WoW for a week and quit, it was boring for me personally. It definitely is great quality and has tons of content, but it was still boring, being the most popular doesn't mean it's either the best or going to be liked by everyone. I personally had a lot more fun in a fuck ton of other MMORPGs compared to WoW. I will probably come back to play ESO a bit, but my problem with that game is the massive Quest/PvE grind for those vet levels, that really killed my interest in the game once I hit VR ranks.
