Was kinda hoping chadz & Co could let us know whats up their sleeves
Regarding Kickstarter, I doubt there's much they can do and without trying to sound like too much like a naysayer, I think it's safe to assume KS will fail. I'm sure they're already planning the next steps and thinking of other ways to secure some founding.

If we would have the playable version done we'd try and push it out asap. Also giving a few more "viral" things a shot, got a fun little picture collage that's descriptive of Melee, maybe it'll work, maybe it wont. As long as we continue to grow in subs/likes/followers and general awareness it's good.
KS has still been beneficial albeit funding hasn't gone through, we made a lot of true friends and contacts in the industry (who's helping us) we otherwise never would have if we pulled it or launched at a different time, now we're on the map at least -- all the support from people in the industry is heartwarming, there's so many awesome people working in this field.
So yeah, there's a few options, priorities might change, I can't divulge what exactly but we'll see where it leads us.
Cross your fingers, cross your toes, hooves and pray to the donkey gods.

First question: How many known gaming youtubers did they pay to make a video about it?
Wouldn't have helped that much. Many people watch videos for the personalities, not the game. Expecting them to go one step further and put money towards something that isn't even out yet is a little unrealistic. Conversion rate is very low.
What would have probably boosted the KS would have been a Kotaku article, but from what I hear they aren't too Kickstarter/Early Access friendly. Truth be told people/journalists are tired of Kickstarters.
I made a post about it here: http://forum.melee.org/general/we've-got-a-problem-here/msg1096502/#msg1096502

Seems like Kickstarter is a pretty crappy platform anyway these days for especially video games.

true friends in the industry .. hmpf ... sounds like a possible turn to getting published to me
What would be advantages or drawbacks in that case ? I mean, for the game ... and for us lazy ass comunity folks :|

As long EA didn't contact MBG team, it's fine.

Don't think "true friends" necessarily means a publisher, could just be ties in the industry they didn't have before or people giving them tips or whatever

We need to be a team working 24/7 on this, letting the world know about it first and foremost.
I don't want to criticize kickstarter campaign (because what would be the point and I don't feel entitled to do it anyway), but really, how's that possible that there's still no info about Melee:BG on the c-rpg.net? A few times I chatted in game with people who had no clue what Melee:BG is. cRPG players, no matter how few of them there still is, should be your primary target, because they're most willing to back you.

I didnt mean that ... i meant it in an proximity kind of way ... i dont doubt there are true gaming enthusiasts and true friends to make in the game industry. Alot of fun and interresting folks imo. Yet, its industry and not a modding scene ... its about influence and money. And if you want your game not to end up stranded on a loneley island, its the same as putting a price tag on it. If some publisher would put the right amount of money on the table for the rights on the game engine and its development, im not sure how i would chose ... Staying independant is a luxory, that not everyone can afford that easy ...

I sent messages to several big Twitch streamers asking to for them to just play the kickstarter video on stream and I'd send them some money. Not one responded to me. =[
