Title: The Siege of Tilbaut, Mark 6
Post by: Lt_Anders on November 17, 2014, 02:36:16 am
Dear Squids,

You are the best strat enemies I have had. You have had the balls to not only attack tilbaut, but do it 5 Times. I am, very impressed and commend your bravery and courage. Thank you for all you have given me, the xp, the gear, and...the hate.

I also must commend Desire and the great, HOLY CROSSBOW OF DOOM. Not only has desire used 1 weapon for 6 sieges of tilbaut(1 on our capture and 5 in defence) but it is the SAME +2 Heavy xbow we have had since then. It has claimed over 100 lives while it's user has died but 3 times.

All fear: the great +2 Holy Xbow. The Great De-Tentacler.

Great fight! I love when a castle is stocked with a good amount of hunting xbows

I was doing better than Desire with a regular Arbalest. Unfortunately, Ander's mom called me for dinner and I had to go AFK.  Someone, probably a teammate killed me while I was AFK.  The good news is, we had a discussion over dinner and Anders is getting a chin implant for Christmas!

I hope everyone enjoyed the battle. I haven't seen a squid speak on the battle, but I know this was by far the best assault on this castle in the history of (ALL?) strat. In fact, if it wasn't for Dhirim, I probably wouldn't have had the wherewithal to buy more dedicated anti-plate(I picked up some 300 blunt weapons just for that battle). I had 350k and a shit ton of medium  armor. I have spent, over about 2 months picking up the Blue Birg's over mail, and boy am I HAPPY I did. For 600 tickets, we were much closer in armor than had I used my lighter, cheaper armor(Brigs over Aketons and Lam vests). That was also, the best K/D I've seen, ever, on an assault of a super hard to take castle.  ~115 tickets lost on our side more than Squids. In fact, had they had a forward spawn, they would have won.(I believe)

I once again commend the squids. Best battle I've had in a long time(Par a few open field battles). I gained so much renown that battle I went from #79 > #24.

I do want to know, how did we hold so well, from Squids eyes, and how did you guys manage to Capture Dhirim? (I think that's even harder than Tilbaut, honestly, but...) Perhaps, following such a bold maneuver, we may meet in the fields instead of behind the walls and there, we can test who has the better mettle. If anything, Squid mercs are far superior to our mercs but don't fuck with Luk. He's a beast and almost took 100 tickets(8% of total squids lost...to 1 man)

Oh and, I suck massively.
(Oh and I put in 7k trade goods for you guys as a bonus if you managed to win)

Having more meat-shields helped the defenders quite a bit in my opinion, allowing for your ranged to sit a comfortable distance away from the melee blobs and pew pew for days.

I don't think they're up for it Anders.  I put down the gauntlet at Caraf, and then again today.  No answer.

But, from what I understand, it was similar at Dhirim, but there, I guess, you could avoid the archers? That's interesting that our 5 mercs(average) more were that much of a problem. I'm actually surprised that our archers(equipped with weaker bows and only arrows) were that...infuriating. Most of my archers complained that you guys were to damn tankey ha ha. Funny how for y'all, it was those damn archers, and for us, our archers hated your damn armor crutchs.

Poke some of the other guys, I'd love to hear their opinions on this. I did, for a while there, think you were going to win. Once we hit the last 20 minutes though, I could see your timers taking a toll and allowing us to keep you hemmed in there.

Just noticed this:
im so glad i dont play this shit anymore, every now and then i get an itch to come back. then  i read the forum and clap myself on the back for staying away from this garbage.

I'm sorry, It's not the K/D that's impressive, nor what I was aiming for with that post. I was trying to make something cool since, how many people do you know in strat have managed to keep the same exact weapon in someone's inventory for 6 battles? That was the impressive part, and since it was loomed, I felt like giving it a little bit of loving and embellishment. This, in addition to being very happy with the balls that the Squids had. Like no one has that much courage to just walk into that hellish castle and not be afraid.

They down voted it because James post any old shit just to bump the thread above mine on the mercenary thread. We don't need false accusations from the leader of the cheater faction.

Everyone knows that grief banning isn't cheating, it's a social commentary on the criminal justice system in the United States today with major overtones of the effects of race and religion in the youth of America.

Pretty sure you guys cheat too.  Saw plenty of 'ladder on ladder' action during that siege.   Not that anyone will enforce the rules, but hey, when you break them, you're cheating.

It's true that some ladders were glitching and stopping in mid air. The noble squids made all efforts to destroy any and all unrealistic ladder placements. On the other hand Australis used ladders extruding from the top of the gate house nest archers. These ladders were unrealistic, a human on a 80ft ladder with the balance point 4 ft up would tumble, and there was never an attempt made by astralis to destroy them.

Actually, the 'unrealistic' ladder placements weren't what I was referring to.  Throwing a ladder, and then throwing one more right on top of it can be construed as cheating.  The reason it's done?  So people don't fall when it's broken.  Still breaking a rule though.  ;-)  Do you not agree?

Really, sky ladder arguments? Well phant did say something, twice in chat about sky ladders. Once, when one of our guys did it at first(He got name shamed fast) and the second time you guys did it.(throwin ladders from the walkway ladders to gatehouse up to top of gatehouse was the most common one that was scene)

But really, that's nothing remotely cringe/cheat worthy, honestly. it's when you make a literal sky bridge that it matters, not an occasional ladder on top of ladder.

Can we please get back to the question I asked instead of this "bigger penis" shit.
I do want to know, how did we hold so well, from Squids eyes, and how did you guys manage to Capture Dhirim? (I think that's even harder than Tilbaut, honestly, but...)

1 random EU guy was throwing sky ladders, and he probably did it like three times,  plus whenever i would see it (and others too probably) would destroy em.
