I don't know about controllers, but me and everyone I know with a laptop found mouses attachable through usb ports, that works fine for us. as long as you actually use some sort of desk and not just on your lap.

She wants to play while laying in bed next to me she does not have a desk or mousepad or mouse. So i was wondering what controller and program could work?

I have no idea if it'd work, but this sounds like a good reason to get a gyromouse (http://www.amazon.com/Gyration-Wireless-Mouse-Plus-GYM1100NA/dp/B001KEGULI/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1414095045&sr=8-4). I don't know if they'd be responsive enough, but if I had one I'd totally give it a try.

In all honesty, don't try a controller. I've played games with an optical mouse against my leg or a blanket while in bed and it works fine.
