Title: Fresh install, getting "STR NOT FOUND" errors on crpg ui screens
Post by: CrazyCracka420 on September 23, 2014, 11:59:08 pm
So I had an issue where I had to delete STEAM from my computer. Before removing steam I uninstalled Warband from steam. Removed Steam from add/remove programs. Figured I'd do a fresh install so I removed the STEAM directory (from Program Files (x86) folder. Reinstalled Steam. Then re-installed Warband. I launched a warband game and entered the world. Then I downloaded the crpg launcher and launched the game (wse2) and got all the errors you see below (STR NOT FOUND before every wording). I went back to the crpg launcher and ran the "repair", but I still get all the same errors. Googling this issue (for Warband) online hasn't produced any helpful results. Anyone have any suggestions or things to try?

Try repairing through cRPG launcher.
Also, is Warband installed in the same place it was before? And do you have the same problems, if not running cRPG with WSE2? If repairing doesn't fix it and the answer to my questions is "no", then perhaps it's an issue with the registry.

Yeah already tried repair through crpg launcher. Warband is installed in the same place it was before (and I had a char name already created when I launched native multiplayer with my character's facial features). I completely removed warband and the steam folder was deleted (that it resided in) so I'm not sure what is going on there :x I think I'm going to try again. uninstall warband, uninstall steam. I'll restart, then delete any warband or steam related files/folders. Restart. Then delete any registry entries I can find with warband, steam or crpg (or c-rpg) in the names :x
Then I will install steam, install warband, launch warband game. Then install c-rpg launcher again.

Damn it the language was already set to english. I'll try changing it and see what happens.
No dice.
If I play without going through WSE2 I don't have any issues. So me thinks the problem is with WSE2...but not sure how I'd go about fixing that vs the whole crpg mod :x
cmp please halp

Clearly you need to start lifting more, your str is too low to meet the requirement for crpg.

Welp here's what finally fixed it. I had to remove Warband from Steam, and then removed Steam. Restarted and STEAM folder was now gone. I removed the warband saved games from my documents. don't think there was any other programs warband or steam related on the PC. Went through the registry and deleted almost everything STEAM related (I skipped the "Class" folder under HKLC). Deleted everything Warband related.
I'm pretty sure something in the registry had kept some old settings, because the first time I thought i removed everything, when I went into Multiplayer (both native and crpg) it had an old character name and old character face from years ago listed there.
Either way I installed steam, warband (launched game) and then crpg and now it's working fine. Cool side note, the game looks a lot better now too, apparently I had some other graphics settings turned off or down before.
