Title: Old games that YOU think they deserve a remake or a modern sequel/prequel.
Post by: Panos_ on September 12, 2014, 02:02:01 pm
I`ll start with my ever favorite game, Syphon Filter

Third Person Shooter, probably the first TPS with somewhat of a free roam , I was 12 years old when I first played this, ah the memories..

(click to show/hide)

My second pick is KKND Krossfire, this game was the second game I owned back when I was a peasant (console owner), and it was the first strategy game I ever played.

Every now and then I download it from PB and play it , really deserves a sequel or a remake.
(click to show/hide)

My third and last pick is Dynasty Warriors 2.

Even though they keep making new DW games every year, the new ones are total shit, with magical powers, less enemies and more anime graphics, WHAT THE FUCK.

They went from this

To this

Sure, the graphics maybe better, but thats it, the gameplay sucks and it feels more like an anime series rather than Dynasty warriors, such a shame really...

Come on. You are exaggerating about DW. It is simply too ignorant to claim that they have gone astray and ruined the game. DW8 is simply amazing. If you haven't even played it yet (but only watched trailers and stuff), go on and do it. It is impossible to hate what they have done with this franchise over the years.

Sure, if you like magic powers, anime graphics and barbies, then yes, Dynasty warrior 8 is absolutely amazing.

Tbh, older versions were all the same. They only had fewer features and lacked more polished graphics.

Xenogears (1998).  It always bugged me that Square pushed this game out early so that they could shift work to "mostly-cutscene" RPGs.  If the original team would go back and finish Xenogears I'd be ecstatic.  Updating the graphics to modern standards would be icing on the cake.

Freespace series.
The story was left unexplained, too bad.

Volition should revive it, I really got hyped when Volition teased with a "new big project" reveal, but then it turned out to be Saints Row. =/

AFAIK it's been hinted that naughty dog are making another crash bandicoot game, so there might be hope of a new one coming.

Guild 2 was awesome and multiplayer was even better such a great way to break friendships by kidnapping their wife and issuing demands or you would kill her. I loved that game.

Yes, But different studio is working on it, Canadian instead of Germans. That's the bad part.

Wait, was this the same thing as Puyo Puyo? My friends went through a phase of that game back in the day.

I would like a spiritual successor to Earthbound and Final Fantasy III/VI, although Square would probably just make the latter one big cut scene.

A Blaster Master (http://"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2STUx_9bkB4") remake would be awesome too.

fable 1 and 2, definitely a remake and not a retexturization

ninja gaiden 1, maybe if this time it had a decent story it could really be THE action game, ambientations were cool but fuck them piranhas, toughest enemy in gaming history

siberia maybe? i dunno

the secret of monkey island

resident evil 1 and 2 and maybe 4

doom 3

medieval 2 total war and i'm still waiting for a rome total war sequel

i guess we can put fable again, it's important it gets a remake

EDIT: oh and splinter cell chaos theory, coor coor

This, but it has to be more like the first game, the second game was a massive disappointment.

I liked B&W2, but I think it lacked the originality of B&W1. In a sense, B&W2 was too gamey and structured whereas B&W1 didn't let itself be played in an optimized way.

MISCHIEF MAKERS for the N64

This game looks great. It is actually a sin not to revive it with a remake or sequel. Pity that I never came across this game during my extensive N64 emulator sessions back in the day. Guess I might have to go back to the emulator just for this one.

Syndicate. They made a remake, but I really dont understand how could anyone have been so retarded and switch such a potentially epic idea for something so generic and idiotic. Basically this is about a wordwide evil corporation that must bully other evil corporations by using technologically advanced cyborgagents in a kinda cyberpunkish world.
(click to show/hide)
It would have been a pretty awesomesauce buisness/xcomtype of game with commiting strategical actions and research, funding etc. Instead they figured the remake should infact a generic FPS:
(click to show/hide)
That setting the original had would have been a exeptionally perfect thing. Quess it will never happen now, cause the shitlords disgraced the name and setting, so no person would ever pitch nor fund this games idea, ever again. GG.

An old PS1 game called Abes Oddysee is suppost to being redone which im pleased about.
You can get the originals on Steam too they're well worth a crack if you like them kinda games.

It appears that it has already been released for PS4. For PC it is still TBA. I am eagerly waiting for the PC release over here. Played both Exoddus and Oddysee on PS1 back in the day. Both are absolute gems.
