Title: Plated Donkey Mod
Post by: Battlepriest on August 15, 2014, 05:25:53 am
So apparently, because Tydeus thinks it's ugly, the plated donkey will not be added. Fear not! For those of you with the will to mod and the will to get a champion donkey, here's a mod that replaces champion donkeys with plated versions!

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Installation Instructions:
Important! Read ALL of the instructions before doing them!
1. Download the heirloom pack (http://forum.melee.org/suggestions-corner/final_boss'-heirloom-pack!-updated/)
2. Put that somewhere
3. Download this mod
4. Put it into the same folder that you put the heirloom pack in (the folder with Mods in it) and replace everything it asks you to
5. Run the heirloom pack installer
6. Enjoy plate armored donkey!

Link to old suggestion thread (maybe enough +1 will make Tydeus change his mind): http://forum.melee.org/suggestions-corner/plated-donkey/ (http://forum.melee.org/suggestions-corner/plated-donkey/)

I don't see why it couldn't be added as a Unique item like the Looney Toons Axe or Boulder on a Stick?

The only thing that makes it "ugly" (and really, it's not that bad) is the metal is too polished and light. I would prefer to see something darker along the lines of the plated charger's coloring.

And the texture could easily be darkened.

Problem is fixed, the entire time the download link was linked to version 1 of the plated donkey

I also darkened the actual donkey armor, incase you were referring to the picture I posted

Dude seriously? That's some bs. This is awesome. Should be added in addition to the regular donkey.

Terrible news that this won't be added, It looks so cool!

.....But don't give up guys, I was campaigning for 2 LONG YEARS to get my lederhosen in the mod and in the end it finally made it, so there is still hope for this awesome donkey!

What is wrong with his front right leg?

Wait why does it matter if he thinks it's ugly? If a majority of the community or some semblance of a majority wants it, put it in! (Within reason of course)

Pretty sure that's the donkey and not them :P
They multi-meshed the armour onto the donkey model. (The donkey is the same as the normal one)

Why is the texture res 512x512 and hardly any of the space used though?
Anyway, GJ!
Finally a worthy steed!

Most of the space that is unused does not need to be used

And I think 512x512 is the default texture res size for m&b

Smoothed out the mesh. Maybe Tydeus will like this version. Or Senni-Ti since he's the new item manager. Horay!

Wasted pixels!

512 is mostly the older native items.
1024 is pretty standard for most things now. (e.g. can be: higher for armours, lower for weapons e.g. I use 512x1024 for my swords)
For a mount, 1024 would seem warranted tbh.

Bring me your finest steed and I shall see it to battle!

IMO the bumpmap doesn't look all that great, up to you whether you want to include it or not. I like the shiny steed look more than the rough, dirty armor look.
