Title: Zero to Hero
Post by: Horns_Archive on August 15, 2014, 04:51:18 am
What weapons/builds turn the otherwise unskilled players into people who should be considered more threatining. Ready, go!
(and for the mood while writing a response feel free to appreciate this fine ass song)

Are we only building for level 30?
If so:
Prerequisites: low ping +3 medium body armor +3 gloves +3 weapon
Variant 1: Fast or Long Reach Slash or Polearm(swing dependent)/2H 21+ agility Main strategy: Find people with low reach or slow weapons, backpedal and spam on hills as much as possible.
Variant 2: Fast Stabby Short 1H and Mace/Pick 15/24 (5 ps, 3/4 shield, 6-7wm, 8 ath) +3 pretty much any 3/4 difficulty shield Main strategy: Neutral nudge the crap out of everyone in between your blocked attacks and try to get behind them for a stab or overhead. Alternatively, stab other targets in range after nudging the closest enemy.

Nah man... There is no build or equipment that will make zero to hero. It's hours of practice, building fighting skill, situational awareness, blocking and footwork, and Learning how to synergize with teammates that makes zero to hero.
Looms and a solid build help, but there is nothing that will turn an unskilled player into a real threat besides gaining real skill. Sorry to disappoint.

A build and looms don't -always- make a player better. A player learning what their strongest suits, and weaknesses are is key. Learning to play in different roles, such as support, will ultimately make a player more well-rounded. Honestly, the best way for a player to become a "Hero" is to either be taught by other players, or to learn through observation.
A lot of the "top-ranked" players aren't there because of their build, their build is made to suit them. Once you learn how you are most effective in a battle, whether it's going headlong into the enemy, kiting off a few opponents at a time, or straying from the pack and picking off targets--that's what matters. Then when you identify how you play best, that's when you design a build that compliments it.
One thing I always tell players that ask me for build recommendations is this; "I can give you recommendations, I can give you gear lists, and I can even tell you how something works most effectively. But until you learn how you play best, no build is going to truly give you the satisfaction you are looking for."
Just my opinion, though.

Looms, levels, and ping. Everything else is secondary.

High level, low ping, looms can give you that extra oomph (allowing you to go less in a skill to make up for the higher stats on loomed items).
Heavy lance and a fast horse also are nice.

Using a xbow 1h shield build is a great way to start getting kills if you are noob. The xbow will net you most of your kills and you can use sword and board to finish off anyone charging you.
Archery is also simple enough to rack up points on the scoreboard. If you have played Oblivion or Skyrim archeery is nothing new. Aim for cavalry for best efficiency.

Everyone is replying with builds that require you to block manually. From my experience, 1 feint or held attack will confuse a "zero" and cause them to die. The true noobs on the battlefield are pretty obvious with their crazy swinging and non blocking.
21/21 pike build is pretty easy though...

Varadin got this build, level 35 then, and managed to one hit my main... hard to get, but god, you deal a shit load of damages. He must be level 36 now.

Varadin is certainly not a "zero" though. Dunno if a noob would be better off with 27/18 than a build with more strength.

Not a zero, never said that, but still easy mod build. Anyone with that can one hit people in medium armor. Plus I saw him taking more than 8 hits (not badly executed swings), and killing his opponent in two regular swings (not held). He may be good, but his build would do the work alone.

I think Cannibal Corpse really perfected this Black Sabbath song :)
(click to show/hide)
Accept the fact that you're second rate, life is easy for you It's all served up on a gold plated plate and we don't even have to talk to you Your face is normal, that's the way you're bred and that's the way you're going to stay Your head is firmly nailed to your TV channel But someone else's finger's on the control panel
What you gonna be, what you gonna be brother Zero the Hero Don't you wanna be, don't you wanna be brother Zero the Hero When you gonna be, when you gonna be brother Zero the Hero Impossibility impossibolity mother really a Hero
You sit there watch it all burn down it's easy and breezy for you You play your life to a different sound No edge no edge you got no knife have you Your life is a six-lane highway to nowhere You're going so fast you're never ever gonna get down there Where the heroes sit by the river with a magic in their music as they eat raw liver
What you gonna be, what you gonna be brother Zero the Hero Don't you wanna be, don't you wanna be brother Zero the Hero When you gonna be, when you gonna be brother Zero the Hero Impossibility impossibolity mother really a Hero
You stand there captain and we all look, you really are mediocre You are the champion in the Acme form book But I think you're just a joker Your facedown life ain't so much of a pity But the luv-a-duckin' way you're walkin' around the city with your balls and your head full of nothing it's easy for you sucker but you really need stuffing
What you gonna be, what you gonna be brother Zero the Hero Don't you wanna be, don't you wanna be brother Zero the Hero When you gonna be, when you gonna be brother Zero the Hero Impossibility impossibolity mother really a Hero

Well you can never beat the originals but in my opinion CC style fits this song flawlessly. Not to mention my brain seems to be incapable of connecting Ian Gillan to Black Sabbath. Born Again is not a bad album by any means but in my mind Gillan = Deep Purple so strongly

nah str builds are far harder to play than 2h agi build, easier to gank them, easier to shoot, harder to circle around shielder, harder to 'hug' shielder and spam due to wpf, harder to dogde cav, ok on this build u can tank a lot of hits but its still a hit, on agi u can footwork easly almost every oponent, and plz next time dont comment builds when u never tried them. Easiest build is 4d agi polearm(glaive or something long similar) and s key whole time.
