Remember trying it out around 1-2 years ago can't remember. But I went on and made an agi build. Got called a spamming noob after I defeated 2 tincans in a 1v2 situation  :|

In Mercenaries , gameplay is more like Native so people who can't survive here -scrubs- goes and plays there, there are no levels and gold grinding depends on your kills so that sucks as well, also they have such a retarded troll community which frustrated me too much.
Only thing I liked there was torches burning haysacks or people wearing linen etc :D

edit: also some equipments are customizable there, which was pretty cool aswell :)

^^ but in native you die to 1-2 hits from any weapon pretty much so that makes no sense.


When i tried merc mod the admins were all like uber thomeks and banned you for killing them n shit

The mod was made because he got butthurt from cRPG. He refuses to add a lot of native items and good quality OSP packs. (added some recently after 3 years tho) Instead he adds ton of retarded features like one hit kill daggers and throwable torches and removed all fun things in the mod. His idea of balance is looking at spreadsheets and seeing what weapon has the best k/d, hell even crpg is balanced compared to this streaming pile of shit. The admins might aswell be replaced by robots because when someone says a non putin approved word they are met with an annoying sound and PLAYER HAS BEEN WARNED BY ADMIN FOR INSULTING. I remember I made a thread calling someone a waste of oxygen and other stuff. But my post had the word idiot in it which got censored with (insults)

According to his posts he didnt seem to bad. Well still a butthurt shitlord who aggressively keeps demanding that Crpg was more like his mod and who refuses to grind beond lvl 29. But I kinda expected worse.

Played a bit of it. Felt like poor mans Crpg. Good alternative if I ever get banned from Crpg for a very long time. Nah, on second thought. Il start playing PW mod again, if that happens. Ye Mercenaries mod is a no go in my book, whatever happens in the future.

I imagine it does a few things better and a few things worse. I personally wouldn't want to go back to some of the outdated mechanics.

I played it for a few stretches at a time whenever I got bored of crpg. I think I still have a character with a bunch of gear. I had fun, but it was never as engaging (or frankly, populated) as cRPG. It's basically like a less grindy early, early version of cRPG with a few gimmicks and less equipment. It really makes me think of early crpg in many ways, probably due to combat mechanics being similar to native.

To be honest I find Homer's main point a fair one and I think Mercenaries' fixed level system with easy respeccing is awesome. Apart from that dumb design choices are evident everywhere. Just glancing over the items shows many blatant unbalances. Expensive perks you have to buy with gold that are lost on respeccing, completely removing freedom of builds as soon as you use a perk. There is a crossbow wounding mechanic, a random chance that you stagger like a retard for 5 seconds when you are hit with a crossbow. There's an achievement that grants you gold for killing the highest scoring player of the enemy team within like 30 seconds, which functions solely to reward spawnrushing afk's. The tremendous OP ness of cav. Just a few things that I can remember now from long ago, but there is a lot more of that. Homer is absolutely clueless.
