all time favorite childhood game dynasty warriors 2.

i actually just got dynasty warriors 8 on steam yesterday because i saw 50% sale but i had no idea it was even on there in the first place, crazy how this has happened not played it for over 20 years, start playing it again and now this thread pops up, crazy.

Guan Yu is my most favored character too and kingdom of shu is the one i like the most. good thread, love it.

Dynasty warriors was my first favourite and first ever videogame that I played!

I remember trying to kill 1000 enemies at Hu Lao gate because I wanted to unlock Lu Bu  :lol:

Liu Bei (most charismatic leader) & the SHU are my fav character/kingdom by far.
When you learn how Guan Yu really dies in the History, it's pretty sad for such a mighty warrior. (Who was probably better than Lu-Bu)

More than being good warrior, he was also extremely trustworthy and his honore forced him to always keep his words. Even if it's means fighting for an enemy. (Meanwhile Lu-Bu just betrayed again and again and again...)
(At Hu Lao Gate, Guan Yu took a very important part in the Cao Cao's side.
(Guan Yu The killer of my two favorite officers : Yan Liang & Wen Chou :( )
Meanwhile Liu Bei was under Yuan Shao's command. When he learnt it, he step back from the battle.

Liu Bei, Guan Yu & Zhang Fei. The 3 brothers of honor. :)




Yuan Shao vs Tsao Tsao (Cao Cao) is a nice story as well.

There is some good wepons on the da_song mod (mod used for chineses armors in crpg).
I don't know why the devs don't take more weapons from this mod  :(

I grew up with ROTK.  I can understand enjoying Dynasty Warriors more if I was super young when it came out.

The core of ROTK was so much more interesting than the repetitiveness of Dynasty Warriors.

ROTK VIII and ROTK X are my favorites!

Dynasty Warriors can get very repetitive, but I have fond memories of all-night gaming marathons in high school with my friend. Dynasty Warriors, Diablo II, Counterstrike 1.6, Warcraft 3... I still go back to those games sometimes :P

Romance of the Three Kingdoms is good stuff though. It has aged better than other games of that era.

I'm gonna make a guess that a very large % of us ALL played Dyn Warriors way back, its what made us freaks for battle that we are today.

I'm surprised no one has made a ROTK mod for Crusader Kings II. ROTK 7, 8 and 10 some of the best games ever.

cRPG is kind of like chivalry medieval warfare's and dark souls' bastard, retarded lovechild. Unlike in dynasty warriors, everyone will gang up on you if they see you AND most people are not color coded mooks.

No thanks. As east as to Mongolia is enough, anything past that is weebland in terms of medieval armory. The Japanese armory we have is already terrible and out of place as it is.
