That was one hell of a struggle he went through then. Did he ever tell you anything about it? (Assuming he didn't pass away)

Unfortunately we don't know much about his war. His tank was destroyed and then he was in hospital. My grandma got 3 letters about his death but he was alive. He didn't return from the war. He was an unknown soldier  for a long time,just couple years ago  we found some documents on archives  and found out  what happened to him. But  not much.

Damn, still nice that you found out something about him. I hope he died for what he believed in...

I often forget that there are alot of Eastern europeans on this forum, from which a large part has relatives who fought on the eastern front (or western, from your perspective). I have a big interest in the eastern front war, but for yall its so much more closer and grimy..

I had no doubts about that..  I doubt anyone did then.  :) it was for mother Russia!
