Title: Opinions on build
Post by: Tojo on June 25, 2014, 06:12:01 am
I wanted to try a sort of unique build here, but I have run into a problem that needs outsiders help.

Lvl 31: 15/24
(Lvl 29 currentley: 15/22)

Weapon Master:7+1
Riding:6
Power Strike:5
Power Draw:5
Horse Arch: +2?
Athletics: +2?
Iron Flesh: +2?

AT LVL 29 WPF: 119pole/129Archer +more wpf at 31

My question is what should I do with my 2 skillpoints from lvls 29-31. Currentley playing as archer/lancer cav with a double sided lance, barbed arrows, Tartar Bow, and Rouncey/Courser...

A. 2 points into Horse Archery to become a more proficient HA
B. 2 Points into  IronFlesh, survivability
C. 2 Points into Agility (I do fight on the ground for small Battle maps and siege)
D. I can get 8 riding and 1 Horse Arcery

2 points of HA would be best, I think. Your aim will increase from 'abysmal' to 'almost okay.' Using 0 HA and a bow means that your aim is equal to or worse than throwing weapons if you horse is going mid to high speed. Aim gets much less of a reduction if you are standing still or moving slowly on your mount.

yea so far I have just been shooting enemy horses while chasing, or shooting infantry from a standstill. It's not really "abysmal", but my aim at full speed can practically only shoot down enemy cav. Mostly because they are big targets.

I guess the choice also depends on your usual playstyle. If you mainly play infantry, choose athletics. This is the safest choice since some maps are just awful for cavalry and athletics skill is almost always relevant regardless of map.

If you plan to play cav as only a lancer/coucher, then consider a couple more points in riding. Even if you don't plan to use a heavy horse, the speed and maneuver bonus are worth the investment.

If you are going to play HA frequently, then the HA skill is hands down the best choice.

Haven't play HA... but my friend mainly plays as HA.  He says that the Horse Archery skill makes a ton of difference.  He goes 15/24.  He takes the 24 AGI solely so he can take 4 Horse Archery.  But he doesn't play lancer at all.  He only does range.  So if your aim is just to shoot horses... you may not need it.

So my advice is to go 2 HA.  If you every reach lvl 32, put another 2 points into HA, to max it out.

Lasly, and I'm sure you've heard this one before... but why use the double sided lance?  It's reach is horrible.  Go with the light lance or (regular) lance.  If you are worried they suck at ground melee (after being are dismounted)... then go with a War Spear (though it can't couch).  Another option would be to take a 0 slot 1-hand weapon... which you have room to take.  Though you won't have any WPF in 1-hand, it's still an option.

I am leaning towards the HA points yes.

The reason why I use the double lance is...
35 pierce + speed bonus= 1 shot light Infantry/Archers
Sheath-able AND Couch-able
Not some poser who uses heavy lance
Feel like a badass when I kill the poser heavy lance users

Also, it matches my outfit so that is really whats important.

Tojo after deciding on his outfit..

But tojo I'd go with the HA as well. If you keep going to 32 you can decide where to put the additional points.

You can still do it all. It's just that you only have a few extra points to spend. Better to focus on one aspect and be better at that instead of splitting it into tiny boosts that you will never notice.

At the builds end my character was too weak in almost every aspect. The best way for me to get kills with the build was D Lance on horseback. It would have worked had I maybe taken 1h skills.

All in all weird building I give it 6/10
