Like many of us, I have alternative characters. I have tried some builds, some specializations, before finding what I am rolling for.
I would like to delete some of my alts because I will not play them anymore. However, I cannot resign doing it: I have spent so much time with them; I just cannot abandon all these hard earned XP and gold. So I just let these alts rot in the limbo of the database.
Actually, I would really appreciate transferring the XP of these alts to my main character and then I would happily delete these alts at the same occasion.
And why not making it a constant option?
This would encourage/ease playing alts since a player would not lose "time" in comparison to those who play only their main. A player can start an alt/try a new build and if he is not happy with it, he could transfer the XP to its main.
See that since the 10% p. retirement bonus has disappeared, it is not really conceivable to try new builds with a main character at every retirement anymore.
Of course, we could add some kind of limitations (I see chadz enjoys adding limitations): minimum level before XP transfer, transferring only 80% of the XP, etc.

Well, I have only a main char, but I think this is a good idea. There are people with like 20 alts or more :D.

This is a realy good idea, but i think full xp is much, even 80% is a little much. I think 50% of the alts xp would be fair.

I would be OK with this if it was a deletion of the alt, all heirlooms and items lost on the alt, as well as a percentage of XP transfered (say 20% or 50% or such).

Sounds good, ive rerolled at level 20 3 times already to try new builds. I feel an alt would be too separated.

now, gold and items... and moving them to your main.... sure. Im all for it. and visa versa. Minus Heirlooms. There are a few things I wish I could purchase for my alts, and I would love to funnel them some gold. and If I want to delete an alt, it would be nice to move all that hard work somewhere.
But for XP.... no way in hell. that particular work has to stay with that particular character. Thats why you used him in the first place. You cant get proficient in martial arts by sending someone else to class for you. you have to do the practice yourself. Moving XP around would be a game breaking mechanic.

I like the idea actually, however like jspook said its not very realistic :lol: I suggest that 50% of the gold and 30% or so of the exp gets transferred over. No items (smart to sell all items before doing so)

I think xp should not be allowed to be transfered, but gold is accessable from all alts/main, sort of like a bank.

I mean really, heirlooms mean you're leaving your items to your children after you retire. Why cant the whole family of alts share money? :D

Only gold should be allowed to be switched anything else is retarded and braindead...doenst make any sense... unless u have 3 or 4 lvl 31 alts i geuss it would be nice to get lvl 35-36 in a click of a icon.. :shock:
One thing i hate is haveing all the good rounds goin only to my main and when switching to one of my alts hes broke :( would be nice if u could share the wallet.

20% should be enough. EU5 gives 1,5x xp, thats 1500 xp for gen 1 alts, 50 xp more per tick than a character on gen 16 or higher. Making exp in easy mode. :P

first of all sorry for my bad english.

I only have 2 characters:
- my main is lvl 30
- my alt is lvl 28 but I respected once at level 30!
So I played so much time as I should be level 31 already if I had not wasted my time on trying crappy builds! :oops:
I am really bored of my alt, and I don't want to loose all my time spent on this character...
In this kind of case (I mean 1 or 2 alts only, high level on main), I think legitimate to allow a total transfer of XP...

Seriously, it's a game and games are suppoused to be fun. Lots of you are talking like playing this game is some kind of work, or like someone is forcing you to play this. "I have worked so hard to get this XP and golds and now it's on my useless ALT QQ", if you feel like that... Maybe you should just quit the game?

initial reaction: meh, stupid idea.
But after giving it a thought it went from "why not" to "hell yeah, this is helping to make players spent more time on alts." I don't see how this could be abused, unfair or bad for the game. And like said in OP, it solves the whole problem many got with alts, that feeling you waste your time not playing on your main.

"I have worked so hard to get this XP and golds and now it's on my useless ALT QQ", if you feel like that... Maybe you should just quit the game?
CRPG is work until level 25.

Can't say I'm against this. Course I may be biased since I have a lot of alts.
It'd have to be a very low percentage though. Anything above 50, and 50 may be too high as well, is far too much xp to give freely from an alt to main.
As an example (and mine is an extreme example), if I were to sacrifice all my alts to gain 50% xp, just to throw a number out, I would gain 19716040 xp to my main. This is sacrificing all my alts and doesn't include my STF char.
That's an extreme example and while I can say I'm for this, its more because it'd be nice to be able to share the xp. I definitely won't kill off all my alts. I have my favorites.

Well my only concern in this is the high level players...
level 35-36, if they could transfer to alts with 50% they could easily make 10+ alts retire till they run out of xp...
So if free xp transfer with a penalty is possible prepare for an massive increase of looms.
At the moment all loompoints are generated by playing with an unfinished build for 4mil xp and then (lvl 30-31) you can play normal. Thats the trouble you have to go through to get a loom. With this xp transfer you dont have to do that anymore.

People would just join the under lvl 20 server and farm exp, transfer and repeat. Unless it was a percentage ofcourse

you are right about some people but you mix things up here. Transfering xp from alts has nothing to do with this, it would be simply an extra motivation to try out different alts. Its not necessarily needed but it does no harm too and would be just a nice bonus for using alts.
Overall I don't think many people would really delete all their alts only to get 50% to the main. Even in your case taser, loosing all alts only for 20 million xp more on your main? pff
But i do think it could be the small incentive needed for some people to create some alts.

Just bringing it up since that's a ton of xp. I could retire twice and almost be at 30 with that amount of xp. Or keep the xp for the grind to 35.
I like the suggestion though but wonder if 50% is too high if this were to be used by the devs. But it would help people to make alts which is always nice to try out builds or make lulzy alts to screw around.

yes, but i'd guess your case is extreme and lvl 35 is 140 mio. loosing all your alts would be still a big sacrifice for 20 mio, IMO.

This is obsolete now, trade looms, retire/respec alt to a different class, if you don't want to play it anymore?
