Title: Currently, which shields more useful?
Post by: Yuang on June 13, 2014, 11:02:13 am
Currently, which shields more useful? I used to use Knightly Kite Shield, but I gave up after revision. Later, I have used the Plate Covered Round Shield, Hand Pavise Shield, Elite Cavalry Shield. Finally, using the Knightly Heater Shield. I think its properties more comprehensive.

Which one do you like the most? Why?

Elite Cav Shield. Round, fast and beautiful with a good banner like ours.

Oh, no! I just traded Knightly Heater Shield with +3 Elite Cavalry Shield! I do something wrong?

Elite Cavalry and Knightly Heater are both the best.

Really fast so you don't have to raise your shield whenever you are not attacking and decent amount of resistance and hit points. And they both look awesome :D

Yes, I just think Knightly Heater Shield has more body armor, from 25 to 35. In the duel, it is more advantage.

Yes, it's only disadvantages are that it weighs 0.5 more and that it is a little bit smaller, so not as much protection against arrows.

I can not imagine why Knightly Heater Shield so much smaller than the Elite Cavalry Shield. They should be about the same size.

Width. ECS 64, KHS 50, makes a difference, also the hitbox for round shields always seemed larger than that of other ones to me.
Height is also smaller, but does not make such a big difference

Compare the Elite Cavalry Shield and Knightly Kite Shield?
The same body armor, the same speed rating. But Knightly Kite Shield lighter and more hit points, while the Elite Cavalry Shield larger.
Just Knightly Kite Shield is more expensive.

The best shield is the one you are use to the timing of for you swings. With this in mind I would suggest that the "Plate covered round shield" is an awesome item and especially at +3(lets not for get that shields and cav get the best loom bonus by miles). At +3 and 5 skill this shield is basically unbreakable and you have much more time to pick your shots while under pressure. Personally I prefer the Steel Buckler due to its 0slot but with 7 skill it is amazing how well it catches arrows for such a small cover.

I used to have a +3 Plate Covered Round Shield, and 5 skill. But it still had to be broken by 2H.

I belive this has been up a couple times but sure ill go with it again for the lols and to farm some moar minuses :)

I play battle only. I am lightly armored with semi-high athletics. I carry 102 length sword and 38dam axe. I prefer the huskarl shield for various reasons:

1) Coverage
When in shieldwall i think the huscarl shield is the one with the best overall coverage sides/up/down.
Its the only shield that will cover majority of your front while holding a stab - best anti-HA/HX, even better than spear+huscarl. Holding spear only leave your entire front torso completely open, making it easyer for HA/HX to counter your rear. IMO. I guess it comes down to style and eye of the beholsder and all that.

2) Hitpoints/armor
Due to valour we have (too) many high damage dealers and lots of them are shield breakers.

3) Speed
I prefer slow shields. Play shielder long enough and you will understand why. Secret pro tip  8-)

The knightly heater shield is better than the elite cavalry shield as long as you are not getting shot at.
If you have ranged enemy players on your sides, the elite cavalry shield is a lot better.

But the huscarl shield is superior to all other shields when it comes to fighting ranged players.
IMO the weight of it (8) doesn't matter much nor does the slower speed.

The green crescent shield (req 3) has good width as well. I would say it's the second best cavalry shield after the elite cavalry shield.
If you have a muslim or eastern themed character it's a really nice shield. It doesn't fit western/christian themed characters obviously.
I'm suprised it's not used more by eastern themed cavalry players.

A +3 steel shield is quite fun as well.

EDIT:
Just after I wrote this I see that Leed is back and he is actually using the green crescent shield.
Welcome back Leed! :D

Heavy round shield.

Almost as large as Husc, and nearly as tough, but a good bit faster at MW.

I run with 7 shield and this shield and it is almost as fast as knightly heater, but allows me to fight 3-4 enemies at once and hold the front line charge.

So long as you are a good at blocking, and have quick reflexes, the speed shouldn't matter too much. I only have 4 shield skill and it isn't too slow. The best part is it never breaks, even when taking on several guys like Konrax said.

Yup. Heavy Round is quite awesome. Dunno about stats but it is one damn fine looking shield.

I also used the Hand Pavise Shield, in addition to size, they are almost right.

Hand pavise doesn't compare to the heavy round shield

There hasn't been a point in time where the Elite cavalry shield isn't clearly the best shield. But I like the new Brown lion heater, lighter version of elite cav.

Really? Well, I have two +3 ones. 2 loom points and 350 k each then  :D

Elite cav is the best, but it looks extremely ugly with most banners. Knightly Heater is the prettiest, especially with a nice banner.
