hi,
I would like to use the Wakizashi, it has a great looking model and a great name (you just got Wakizashi'd!), however currently I cannot justify heirlooming it in the slightest; there is literally no reason to select it over a steel pick, a short arming sword, or a short nordic war sword.
Therefore I propose a buff to the Wakizashi by 2 cut damage and 2 pierce damage. This would be an increase from it's current extremely low base damage of 29 cut and 21 pierce
Reasons not to select it over the,
Steel Pick - because of the 'dodgy-ness' of sweetspots, if you swing a steel pick, its damage is so considerably higher than the wakizashi's that it hits much earlier in the animation, thus meaning the Wakizashi's large speed advantage is completely diminished. on top of this, the steel pick does HUGE amounts of damage; 31 pierce compared to the Wakizashi's rather pitiful 29 cut.
Short Arming Sword - 10 reach more than the Wakizashi, 2 speed less (which considering the length and damage bonuses of the sword make the speed insignificant), 1 less cut and 6 more pierce.
Short Nordic War Sword - same as the short arming sword, but there is honestly no reason to select the Wakizashi over this weapon; the nordic war sword is 10 reach longer, does more cut damage (they are both cutting weapons), and is only 2 speed slower (which when weapons are already this short makes practically no difference, as they will already be relying on instant hits)
It's a small change, but it would make yet another weapon in cRPG much more usable; as opposed to the current situation, where i personally have never seen an heirloomed one, and in my 2-3 years of playing, i have perhaps seen half a dozen of them used.

A +2 pierce and cut would be a way too big buff. The sword is bad, but not that bad.
Compared to the Italian Falchion. The Wakizashi loses 5 cut for 3 speed. I would suggest increasing its stats by +1 cut and pierce.

i think the problem is really that when a weapon is that small, 3 speed doesn't really make a difference :(
it was already hard to see, so being a tiny bit faster really doesnt help, the thing just lacks raw damage imo

Two speed difference is a lot. I definitelly feel it when I use 100 speed weapon and 98 speed one.

I definitelly feel difference when fighting with 100 speed weapon and 98 one for example.

me too, when the weapon is of a reasonable length, but for a weapon that small, which is already so difficult to see, it's not even noticeable enough to make a difference; the enemy knows you already have to facehug, and if you're trying to facehug and go for instant hits anyway, the speed doesn't make much difference
on a longer weapon, like a nordic war sword, or a nordic champion sword, you can definitely tell the difference, but on short ones, not so much :(

I think it can afford 2-3 points of damage distributed along cut/pierce. Maybe +2c, +1p or +1 to both. You have a good point about the 103 and 102 speed weapons. As far as being "good enough," I think the wakizashi is already a great weapon, since not many are that good at 105 speed at +3.

short blades girl blades

i think 3 points is a good idea, perhaps +3 to cut to make it competitive with the italian falchion, or maybe as you suggested +2 to cut and +1 to pierce.
i feel that either of these would make the weapon competitive with the other weapons in the class.

1 speed is worth 1 swing which is worth about 3 points in stab. Check Knightly Arming vs Nordic Champion and Liuyedao vs Niuweidao. So with three speed more, Wakizashi should do three less damage. Buff it by two damage points. Three points would be too much imo and it has to pay ze weeboo tax!

Hello, I started using Flamberge again, and I think it deserves a huge buff, not because it UP, but because I`ll be using it.
+100 cut and +20000 speed will do, k thx bye.

2 cut 1 stab IMO, or just 2 cut
