Title: War of the Vikings - skillbased multiplayer melee combat?
Post by: GRANDMOM on June 02, 2014, 11:33:23 am
"Vikings seems built for small, focused battles. When an opponent swings from the right, you’ve got to parry to the left. Combat becomes a complex dance, with each warrior reacting to the other’s tells – like a fighting game. But that complexity only works in the one-on-one tutorial fight. In real matches, combat devolves into a medieval mosh pit. Warriors crowd together, swing wildly, and dash around like fools. There are simply too many people on a given map to properly use the limited and precise attacks we’re given, which makes the characters feel like they were yanked from a different game." THIS GUY APPARENTLY HAVENT BEEN PLAYING CRPG MUCH
Anyone tried it?

Which leads me to the conclusion that you are pulling my leg and that indeed someone did try it and you want to keep it a secret! Call me Sherlock

..and the answer is... no, since it is basically a sequel to War of the Roses.

How Can Video Games Be Real If Our Eyes Aren't Real?

I really enjoyed playing the Beta on my bro's gaming rig, I would definately look into the full game if my laptop was not the limiting factor. It seemed smoother and faster than war of the roses, plus its in the viking era which is great fun.

Played Beta. It was actually like WotR, but improved. It is certainly better than WotR but as I didn't like WotR already, WotV isn't a game for me either.
Would probably buy it once its cheaper on steam (now its around 20-30€ I believe). Then I'd probably give it another try as the company is quite good and I guess they made some improvements.

Seems like dogshit to me.

It was fun, lots of haters on these forums though. You'll have to pick through those threads with a screen to get to the objective reviews. It isn't perfect, nor is it dogshit.

It is dogshit, not like the old white dogshit I used to see as a kid, but like a big fresh pile of dog diarrhea right on your doorstep, so when you step outside you tred on it and have to wipe your foot on the grass for 5 minutes to get all the shit out of the grooves in the sole of your trainer.
It amazes me people even considered this game after War of the Roses, but the most amazing part is that War of the Roses was successful and popular enough that they could make a shitty sequel, fuck these games.

Here, why don't you go download this game and maybe you'll get some perspective in your gaming life. You have no idea what true shit really is.
I like how the first 1/3 of the reviews probably trick the last 2/3 into buying it.
It may be true shit but it's not like the polished, plastic-encased turds you pick up everywhere and for a second you go, "you know, maybe this could've been nice if it wasn't actually just a turd I spent ~$30 on".

Yeah, but that is more like "this dress I bought looks horrid" while someone else likes the color and style. At least you didn't buy a dress and "OMG, they sent me a fucking burlap sack without even any arm or head holes cut into it."

That's true, I can't really form an opinion because I haven't played the game but considering this game mechanics seem to directly compete with our beloved Warband it seems some people [here] are going to feel they're getting a tuxedo t-shirt when they thought they were getting a tuxedo.
Although, ours looks like a tuxedo t-shirt but is actually made from the finest, premium, donkey furs.
